Hearing them isolated, I can hear The Cure influence on his riffs! Like Robert Smith's playing, but with more fuzz. Love J Mascis. Great vid, as always!

There's a lot of focus on J's Big Muff fuzz tone but not enough on his overdriven "clean" tone. Great to see that showcased here! Also time to learn all of these riffs hahaha

I need to get a Double Rock to go with my Garbage Face! Trying to understand your signal path - are you going Guitar -> Double Rock -> Fuzz? I always thought Fuzz should be before overdrive?

yes mate, that's how J sets his up, he basically uses the Double Rock to attenuate his signal and bring the volume down interestingly! There's a load of applications for the Double Rock that I've not shown here as J just uses it in both Dist modes. But you can get a range of tones with the other settings too. Really varied pedal :-)

Thanks mate! It's a Fender American Professional, i think they only made them for a couple of years, picked it up 2nd hand and it's great fun to play, lovely neck!

@@LetsPlayAll Think about it because you made the pearl jam pedal and queens of the stone age pedal and a Dino Jr pedal and a RHCP John pedal would be nice. Also Kurt Cobain used a pedal called the pedal X. They also are modifying a boss DS1 or DS2 to have a big muff tone stack. The DS2 uses Germanium diodes to get that fuzz hair on the notes which RHCP uses. If you put a big muff tone stack in the DS2 it will sound more like Kurt Cobain

As far as pedal demos go, it's really flawed to run it with another fuzz pedal, as far as demonstrating the sound of the pedal being demoed. You understand I'm sure. Constructive criticism, I hope.

Thanks, I'm all for constructive criticism so it's always welcome :-) For J Masics I thought it was useful to show how this particular pedal works with Fuzz as J pretty much uses the Double Rock to attenuate his volume when using his fuzz pedals. So he just uses pretty much one setting, but I wanted to show how it can nail a bunch of Dino Jr tones from over the years, plus how it interacts with the fuzz as he uses it. Hope that makes sense!
