Video walkthrough of removing old vinyl from a boat.
Your first consideration when deciding to remove old vinyl is the surface it is applied to. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to hurt the surface of your boat, especially if it were a boat or vehicle. Older vinyl will become more brittle, so you may notice flaky, smaller chunks of the vinyl coming off during removal. This is normal however for older vinyl.
The easiest method for removal is to use a Heat Gun. Starting at the lowest setting and working your way up to a safe but warm temperature. Warm the vinyl until it becomes brittle and can be peeled off using your fingers. Or, to make it easier on you we offer the ‘Lil Chisler’ a small plastic tool that is safe to use on fiberglass or scratch prone surfaces. Using the Lil Chisler in conjunction with the Heat Gun makes for an easy and quick uninstall.
