There is an alternate ending to this one. In order to activate the “bad” ending, you’ll have to activate a radio sending the location for the ambush. If you end up not activating the radio before then, you just end up getting shot dead, still causing the missiles to launch and detonate.
@Seth-HaloАй бұрын
There are no missiles that launch. The nuclear devices are neutron bombs (produce more radiation and less destruction) that have been buried beneath various European cities. In game it's mentioned that it is a deterrent to prevent the soviets from invading. But that only works if the soviets know they are there. And if the soviets know they are there, they would just tell the people about it and that would cause the people to be kinda upset that bombs are buried below there feet. As a plot device it makes very little sense. But it still makes for an interesting end scene.

@@Dumbreapping I look at it from how I'd feel from the perspective of the character I am currently playing. If I was in Bell's shoes, I would not give a damn about the bigger picture, or the things Steiner and Dragovich did to Mason, if I'm in Bell's position (which I was while playing as Bell in the campaign), I would feel nothing but anger towards Adler, and everyone on his side, because his side sanctioned him to do these things. My world view is an individual one, not a bigger picture.
@Dumbreapping4 ай бұрын
@BabylonGames798 yet its no sanction on that said individual is why is say the "Bigger Picture" matters when it comes to this yeah you can try and put yourself in those shoes of a "Facless, voiceless and storiless" character so if you were to put this in prospective for a sec say they found "bell" and it turns out he's basically Perseus right hand and they did that back to em is why honestly what they really did to bell isn't as bad as what others have done in that past they were just the ones to put a lime light at the time and seems bad but in reality more of mercy than what the other sides would have done...Bell may have been the person you play as but that particular character has no voice or face just hands and a gun and maybe some choices depending on how you feel in the time but nun the less it's not like he was some sort of game changing man who made us think oh the right side is to kill the icons that seemed bad by doing their job Yet has been done countless times on the other side but when we do this on Our side nah we chose communism...and that's the bigger thing you're limiting yourself to information for false feelings of character that in reality was just a tool for the war to end that's how they saw Mason at the same time they literally shocked em in a chair to get info and he was American...so putting yourself in the prospect of the inevitable with limited info and Mason is standing right there hmmm 😑😑

Adler is not the hero though. His mission was never to save the world. His mission was to keep the world from finding out about those secret nukes. The player is killed to cover up all the illegal experiments performed on a prisoner. Had he been a hero, he would've leaked about the nukes to the allies and coerced his government into handing over the disarm codes. Instead, he took the highest risk possible to try to keep that secret.
But you're not sacrificed to save the world, because the US still has nukes planted in Europe with the intent to use them if Europe ever goes against their demands. That's supervillain shit.

I'd go so far to say that Cold War is the true canon sequel to Black Ops 1. If BO2 had released in 2012 with this campaign and the 1980s setting instead of the 2025 setting, that would've been fantastic. I liked BO2, but 3 and 4 were such a spit in the face to the WaW-BO2 storyline that Cold War was a breath of fresh air. I hope the rumors about this year's supposed Black Ops campaign are true, because I think BO has been at its strongest when it focuses on actual historical settings (BO2 being the exception of course).
