When I saw him losing his team in the first season and he giving almost no reaction to that, I felt he was a typical commander who only thought of mission and nothing else, after seeing his backstory I realised he cared a lot for his comrades but he was always unable to protect them and got used to it

I didn’t realize it my first time watching, but his introduction is actually quite the opposite- they establish that he hates dirtiness and blood, he’s a basically a germaphobe, but then soon after he is holding his bloody comrade as they die without a second thought.
