I saw some interviews with the author and he said the characters are German in the AOT universe. They aren’t like real life Germans of course but they are the German people of their Universe

Even in some of the openings they have a few German lines, in the second one they often say “Flügel der Freiheit” or “Die Freiheit und der Tod, die beiden sind Zwillinge.” Wich translates to “wings of freedom” and “the freedom and death, they both are twins” Kinda like that, Armin, Erwin, Reiner, Berthold, Thomas and a lot of other names in the show are also German, even A lot of the last names like Ackermann, Jäger, Fritz or Leonhardt That was so much random I formation but ok

I think it's hilarious that in German he is a Hauptgefreiter because a Hauptgefreiter is an enlisted soldier. You would think that Levi is atleast a NCO but he isn't in the German version.

Levi's voice actor in Japanese is so special and Kamiya really has worked so hard to achieve Levi's special dark yet smoothly flowing voice. No one can compare with the original voice. But I like all of the dubs! Amazing that so many languages have dubbed AOT! In my country, Sweden, almost nothing gets dubbed anymore. Kids from 8 years old do everything in English. I Think it's sad. :

@@freakingreg8400 he doesn't sound like a grandpa at all the German voice actor of him is also a bit of a popular one who gives characters his own touch and I just love how levi sound his voice lets me freeze and he gets his own touch that is more than the levi we know I just can't descripe it the English one isn't really good enough for me Same as for Hanji for example her voice is pretty much not fitting her and sounds much better in German
