@@smessaddeq Not just the Jewish background, but Paul was raised by Pharisees. They stuck to rabbinical law (man-made) laws about women and how they should wear their hair, not be allowed into the temple etc. As antisemitic as the Catholic church has been it did adopt the women covering their heads in church thing. I often thought that was strange. The girls in my neighborhood growing up in the 50's and 60's would forget to bring their "head cloths" and used hankies. While the women wore elaborate hats.
