Levko Mykolayovych Revutskyi* Kyiv* So many mistakes, but I forgive you since you didn't know Ukrainian to English transliteration.

For those who asked who is the performer: this is a performance of Ukrainian pianist Maria Krushelnytska.

It's a nice piece of music. Can you tell me where I can buy the sheet music? Do you know the publisher of the score shown in the video? Thanks!

I'd love to hear the 2nd sonata some day. Too bad there isn't any info on it anywhere, or recordings. I can only find the score.

Ukraine has produced both some great musicians and some great revolutionaries ... Trotsky for one instance of that. 🤭💐🇺🇦

It gets real Rachmaninoff real fast xD
@pietrolandri60815 жыл бұрын
@@lyudachka11 actually Jeffrey is right. Opening reminds the mature Chopin when he sounds like tonality ambiguos in his more revolutionary results. Afterwards he reminds Kosenko (also Ukrainian) with (seldom) touch of Rachmaninovian declaimed rhetoric.... But always remaining lower profile.... Never exaggerating (that is main limit of Rachmaninov)

@@pietrolandri6081 -- A pastiche but a still a fine piece. Nice echoes of Tschaikowsky's 'Pathètique finale [end 1st (?) movement], and of Scriabin at 7:00....morphing thence into Tschaik's 1st Piano Concerto....I loved it!

The first 20 seconds took my mind to Liszt's sonata with which it shares both the key and a theme.
