This is what Hikaru was talking about when he said confidence and using your image to your advantage, my man! When you had no idea you were playing Dominguez, you just played your game of chess and didn’t get in your own head about who you were playing against. You got in your own head a little about being down a Queen; but no way you win this match if you’re thinking about that AND the fact you’re playing Grandmaster Dominguez at the same time. The only way to translate not seeing the names online to not seeing the face across the board is quite simply confidence. And games like this should give you confidence - because you have the talent to be a grandmaster. You don’t need to worry about who you’re playing - they need to worry that they’re playing Levy. Proud of you man, win lose or draw I’m pulling for you on this journey!

@@Delterr My guess is that he doesn't want to spend too much time thinking about bad moves. It's counterproductive when he's training for top level play. He's talked before about how players often play worse when they've been teaching for a while because their mind has focused so much on their student's bad play, and GTE is probably a similar problem.

@@QED_ Just a remarkably dumb comment to troll and farm votes and maybe get a pin of shame if super lucky. First off, "Cuban" is arguably not even a race or ethnicity--more like a nationality. Second, dude needs professional help if he hears something like that in that context and goes to comment about racism. Smh.
@crazykhespar848724 күн бұрын
@@jonathanparsons461 You're a strange one indeed. Look into Occams Razor- I just made a weird comment making fun of a single word choice. I didnt have anything else behind it. No goals. Just making fun, for myself really. You care more than I do obviously, hence saying I need mental help lol. I want to clarify Cuban is both a nationality and a racial identity. Assuming nationality or racial identity off of playpatterns is strange, which is what it sounds like he was doing. If you find my analysis to be racist itself, I guess Im sorry you interpret things as though they have malign intent. Again, my throwaway comment is not seeking any of whatever attention thing youre thinking of. You are being weird. Look up Occams Razor. Have a good day.
@jonathanparsons46124 күн бұрын
@@crazykhespar8487 I know what Occam's Razor is, and it has nothing to do with my reply to you whatsoever. The problem with your post is, as you said, that you care too little. Which is why I had to come up with some sort of reason, like maybe you're trolling, etc. to potentially justify the stupidity of that comment. "If you find my analysis to be racist itself, I guess I'm sorry..." --what analysis!? You explicitly said that GothamChess was our 'racist lord and master' because he brought up saying that he felt like he was playing a cuban based on how they played. I'm not the only one who replied to you with a reaction. Like hello!? Let's just forget the fact that he wasn't being racist. Maybe malice wasn't your intent, but it doesn't mean that was an acceptable thing to say. Again, if you say or hear someone calling someone else a 'racist lord' with hardly any grounds whatsoever and your reaction is: "Haha, I'm just making fun!" Then the strange one isn't me--it's you. What's next? Joking about telling people to go kill themselves? By replying to me, you admit that you care about your posts a lot more than you claim. Look into the term: "reflective thinking" -- reflect before you write comments. Have a spectacular day.
