you're mistaking chess for something intellectually stimulating similar to how we see reading and engaging with ideas, when you should be viewing it in relation to other strategy games. You're basically looking at gamers with an abundance of hubris as well as pretension over the fact that they play and are good at chess.

black can't fork because moving the knight discovers an attack on the king by the rook, you can't do a move that would leave you in check, in other words, it's pinned
