Lewes is a small town built into the slopes either side of the Ouse Valley. There are many things to do in Lewes in East Sussex. Lewes is famous for many independent, antique and quirky shops, as well as historic pubs. Lewes also has a working brewery situated in the town centre and above the medieval streets stands Lewes Castle and museum.
Lewes has a small food market selling fresh, local produce, and a craft market too. Lewis has many lovely #medieval streets to explore, old English churches and twittens (alleyway). The town is dominated by the remains of a Norman castle and is also home to the house of Anne of Cleves (fourth wife of #KingHenryVlll). Lewes also has contemporary art galleries and historical sites including Priory of St. Pancras. Cliffe High Street contains Bookshops, boutiques and antique centres as well as restaurants, cafes, and pubs.

great video coverage on Lewes town centre , i love it very much, i went the Lewes Technical College long time ago...1976-1978, and still quite and peaceful city as before...

Wow 🤩. What a neat, well put together town on this nice bright day. Handsome buildings all the way along. ‘Dominated’ is the correct word when you get up to the Norman Castle 🏰 ⛅️ and it’s great arched gateways. Thanks again for such a good experience 👍. Cheers, Don 🙋‍♂️ !!

Hello there Don, yes we rather liked Lewes, shame the camera wasn't quite mounted on the gimbal properly and the footage is a bit shaky. Thought it was worth adding anyway. Hope are things in lovely Scotland and do you have any plans to travel this year?

@@LivingWalks A bit shaky ? I didn’t notice, I will have another look 👀. Things are good up here, quite a mild winter so far, so lots of local walks and seeing friends outdoors. No travel plans so far this year. We are still visiting in the CareHome every day, and being as careful as we can be, not to take COVID into the place !! Use to live in Lewes from 2000 to 2002 while studying in Falmer. Children used to study in Pells CE primary which has closed down.

Class 1 Building. I had to look it up. Interesting. I would love to travel to the UK and metal detect. I heard the locals are pretty protective of there metal detecting fields. I don't blame them at all. You and your wife must be in great shape. A lot of walking. Take care. Love your videos.

Hiya HD, Ah it'd be lovely if you could someday visit. We have a close friend who is a very keen detectorist and he'd just love to meet you. He's found a lot of Roman jewellery and neolithic axes and arrowheads, he'd love to show someone who would be interested!! Great shape, ha ha, well we might be if we hadn't eaten wonderful Madeiran bread for 62 days!! All the best to you mate.

Such a shame that is is so expensive to live there and so many people in Lewes rent out shitty rooms…..at least that was the case pre pandemic….can’t imagine that it is any better now.

I do miss it I use to do a courier round all of BN7. I'm hopefull I will get news today that I can resume my love affair with the best small town in Sussex. Lovely place great people can't recommend it enough only one slight quibble is that bloody Argos monstrosity look it yuk.

I was born here 66 years ago, for me the monstrosity is from Cliffe bridge to Library corner including Boots round into Eastgate Street, these could be anytown anywhere. There used to be Sovereign Buldings, Victorian I assume, not the present ersatz precinct. Then there's the monstrocity that's County Hall visible from miles away across the Downs and even worse the Amex Stadium 4 miles away but an eyesore when it's lit up..
