I have this rod and at first the line got extremely tangled and so many bird’s nest at first then I put a 30lb test on and it worked perfectly

Just grabbed one for 20 bucks going to test some 30lb braided

I bought one about a month ago when I needed a quick rod. The line on mine was surprisingly good. No issues and super strong. Feels like 6lb mono. Although after a full day of reeling I can definitely tell the bearings aren't as smooth as when I bought it. Curious to see how it will hold up. But like you said, can't go wrong for only $30.

I got the LZR pro combo medium and a LZR pro baitcaster combo medium heavy. very happy with my rods. On clearance sale $38 for both combo's. All the LZR are good I've used. I don't like having to much line on my Lew's Xfinity with rap around the bale to much. I'm a monofilament guy I can change it out every trip fishing and have new Everytime.

Do you think this rod and reel combo would be good for salmon if I replaced the line with 20-30 pound braided??

In the back of my mind, I figured that these pre-strung reels had garbage mono that is kinked up due to it sitting around on shelves for months or even years. I feel like such things are done for the occasional summer fisherman who puts a nightcrawler out on a bobber who may only cast up to 10 times per fishing trip. Judging by how the line is dealing with cast after cast, I think you've proven my theory correct.

every reel like that that i get, i replace the factory line with SpiderWire

30 bucks for a Lews not bad. I might go pick one up for my wading missions

Take the spool off, set it in a bowl of hot water for about ten minutes. Should reform the memory of the line.

I could see the benefit of doing a review with the line that comes on it. Then in the second half of the video change the line. That way people could see a comparable difference.

So have you swapped the line out and if so how does it handle

Everytime new line is put on a reel, first thing you should do is tie a hook on it and then hook to a fence or something, let the drag off enough to go back 100 yards or more, tighting up drag to just slip before breaking, now reel it and stop and pull back against the drag, reel it like your play a fish fighting hard, repeat it again and as to reel in all 100' yards slow with pull (force) your line will stop do all that weird crap, all mono line needs this when new and the only way to stretch mono before using it and it will not stretch again on you, sharping your hooks with file.

It would have been much better had they not included the bad fishing line and had you just buy your own to begin with.
