Exactly, speed isn't the point here. It's an entry level car from a brand celebrated for it's quality and luxury.

I drove it for about for hours on the highway and streets. It's got MORE them enough power and the 2 cars I've had had V6 engines. It's more then enough although a bigger engine would be nice. But this drivetrain setup works pretty damn well and you're not lacking for power

I am a huge Lexus fan but I also have a f56 mini cooper 136hp and it does 0-100km/h in under 8, but I love the CT

As the name suggests it is a continuously variable transmission, so the point is seamless gearshifts

I love how the engine only revs to ~5500rpm before redline. It's almost like a diesel. I rather get an Audi A3 or a Mercedes A-class over this. EDIT: Ok, after driving one I will change my standing. On the city streets it is MUCH better than the A-class because Mercedes' 7G-DCT simply doesn't like starting & stopping during commutes. I also enjoyed the smoothness (and quietness) of the hybrid drivetrain of the CT200h, and a great thing is unlike the Audi & Mercedes where the A/C goes hot when the engine shuts off during start-stop, the CT A/C stays cold even when engine is off. The CT still feel rather lacking in highway passing maneuvers however, and the drive is only meh at best.

There's your problem. You forgot the one and only Rear-wheel-drive in the segment, the BMW 1-series which is better than any of these cheap ass front-wheel-drive cars. Also even the 1-series gets the godlike ZF 8-speed auto that wins any other autobox on the market due to how smooth, refined and just damn good it is. Also don't use start&stop at all, it ruins your car's engine, battery and starter.

Manakuski the ZF is literally the best auto box by far. My friend has it in his Charger RT and it’s like instant shifts. In sport mode it cracks shifts so hard like a DCT, it lurches the car forward as if you were power shifting it in a manual car, but in like 1/4 the time. It’s incredible. But in normal mode it’s almost as smooth as my 7G-Tronic Auto in my S550. I would be so happy to have that trans in my car.

@@Manakuski wouldn't say the Lexus is cheap Ass car. yes the cvt transmission is shit but these cars are well built. plus they are super reliable. bmw use great gearboxes but that 116i petrol engine is built by peugeot and has some issues. iv owned both bmw and Lexus . bmw are such costly cars to maintain. components made of cheap plastic brake all the time. it cost me a small fortune to keep. yet the Lexus I had cost me nothing in repairs. only normal services

CVT (constantly variable transmission) In theory it doesn't use gears but constantly adjusts the gear ratio to keep it in the power band, do it appears it's only got one gear...

Continiously variable transmission to be presice. Lexus and Toyota using a different type of CVT called dual planetary gear box that is much more reliable and powerful!

I've reached 197 km/h... Then I had to brake, so I don't think I reached its real limit ;) BTW, speed isn't the point with an hybrid car... Silence, comfort, low fuel consumption, all of them make the difference: the difference between finish a trip as quickly as possible and enjoy a trip, perhaps with someone else :)

What is this all about...My ct200h can do 60 very fast in sport mode, just over 7 seconds. It also maxes out on the speedo at 140mph which I have done! 225kmh. Slow! I don't think so. Oh also crazy economical, very comfortable, almost silent! And packed full of great gear. for the price, it's fantastic. I looked at mercs first. Too expensive and no extras without paying a ton of money for them.

My wife's car is a 2012 CT and while I don't feel it's terribly slow, there is no way it's getting to 60mph in 7 sec. As far as 140mph goes you must have been dreaming or going down a very steep hill at the time. Top speed, maybe 110-115mph.

Because a 1.4-liter turbo Astra can do 0-100km/h in less than 9 seconds with a manual gearbox. Or any 1.4-liter turbo VAG car. This vehicle is incredibly slow.

@@Manakuski its not designed for speed. its much more comfortable than an astra. also you save about 1200$ a year with this car, compared to your 140hp astra

@@serioussam2349 it isn't more comfortable than an Astra. It is more economical, but it's also more expensive to buy. An Astra is just a lot better to drive too. Not that it matters for me, since i drive a BMW anyway. Just stated my honest opinion.

lol! it is more the fact the strange and awful motor' sound than the speed (weak) it self that bothered me! this particular sytem with one and only one speed that automaticaly get used to be in the good gear ratio, is not convinced me at all! but anyway, thanks to show this car, for our knowledge!
