Great video! Only correction is that the factory popup nav and associated joystick controller in the center console is AWESOME! With today's tech, it is fairly easy to swap in a modern display with a glovebox headunit /raspberryPI running OpenAuto and you've got a brand new system in what was definitely a real highlight for higher trim cars in 2001. Something to note as well that I feel is very relevant to the IS300 lineage is the differential options, being the 3.7 in manuals, the 3.9 in autos, and both having an open or limited slip option. From what I understand, all the trims you mentioned could have open or limited slip, except for the L-Tune, which was always limited slip. The ratios were hard tied to manual or automatic transmissions to accommodate different transmission gearing. This is even more relevant, because Toyota continues to use the same differential carrier with other gear ratios (and less strong internals, though that's debatable) in the FRS/BRZ/GT86. Pre-2017's have a 4.1, post-2017 being 4.3, all LSDs, meaning they can all be swapped between chassis with a simple modification to the bolt holes on the carriers.

Yeah the "base without options" model which is actually a base model ,has 2 different styles of 16s offered. the 6 spoke wheels you said are rare was commonly used on the sc300s.

They all seem to be very rare here in Minnesota. I think I have seen 2 on the road in 2 years but I do get compliments at stations so people still know what they are! 2001 asp with the 16" 6-spoke wheels, just like at 0:20. Tan alcantara, sunroof, lsd and I love the gold badging. Now on oem 17" wheels, Apexi coils, Cusco swaybars, Strongflex bushings and a few Megan arms/links. A great daily for me, most of my miles are on the freeway so mileage is not too bad.

as a '05 sportcross driver I absolutely love every mile in that car (no matter how thirsty :D) but I am always watching my back. at this point in time rear collision almost means scapping the car due to how rare panels, windows and interior trims are.

I have a sport design with a factory 5 speed manual and the gray leather seats. It's awesome!

I guess mine isn't "as rare" as I thought. 02', Manual trans with leather seats, heated seats, Nav and LSD. So a base optioned out all the way I assume. The nav sucked. Probably the first thing to break on the car. The leather seats not long after. :)
