When going into a new car showroom of the big german luxury car brands, I am always fascinated with apparent obsession of the sales persons with specs... all of it they trow at you. At the moment the mention the words “road-feel”, I stop them, and I say: I do not want to feel anything of the road, I want to be isolated from the elements as much as possible.. Then the defensive talk starts, where they try to convince you of the road holding, and performance. With a Lexus, like this RX, performance is not so important. It has to be adequate. Its all about comfort and safety. I am so glad that Lexus still build cars for a large group of people that want the maximum comfort, soft ride, low noise levels, beautifully build, combined with the highest possible reliability and safety.

the truth is apart from Rolls Royce and Bentley Lexus make the most comfortable cars to drive. Far much more comfortable than their German rivals and match them in luxury and quality as well. This Rx is awesome just like other Lexus cars and suv's. Then it's the most reliable brand in the world, u can't go wrong with a Lexus.

@samsonokoro5036 7 жыл бұрын
marc clarkson I'm sure u'll say Jaguar land rover is Indian too. That's just an absurd comment, being German owned doesn't mean it is German made. The entire craftsmanship of the interior and most of the car is done in England by British Engineers. Even the head of design Rolls Royce is English. Do some research so u don't come out looking like a novice.

Samson Okoro my mother bought the new rx with all the options but the ride is way too harsh on rough pavement. I absolutely love the car but the suspension is really a let down.
@samsonokoro5036
@samsonokoro5036 7 жыл бұрын
Hockiet whoa, I haven't experienced that with previous Rx models, I have been in the 3rd gen and 4th Gen Rx. I haven't been in this new 5th Gen for 2016 though so i can't say much about the suspension but I'm surprised it was that harsh. I have the Es350 and the ride is supple on all road conditions, very comfortable and soft I.e. floating like. Although most Lexus sedans especially the Es and Ls have supple rides cause they are made for luxury and comfort unlike the Is and Gs that have a stiffer ride and handling for that sports feel.
@Hockiet
@Hockiet 7 жыл бұрын
Samson Okoro well i drove the gs and i can say it is much, much softer than our rx. Both our rx and the gs i drove had the adaptive variable suspension. Neither are fsport models and the gs ran on much thinner sidewalls.

It's strange these guys will have a car for a day or two and conclude on infotainment. Why don't they ask people who live with these everyday.I own RX450H,and I can tell u i am still struggling to understand what difficult about it. Or is it maybe because the innovation was not brought by the germans? Maybe they must start building their own cars and let's see how good they can be.

@@nkgudih true man its not that hard know but maybe theyre just saying bcz for eg. its not touchscreen and touchpad gets a bit hard to use n stuff, compared to german rivals were screens r easy and touchscreen. Usually features of a car are compared to its rivals to determine its competitiveness and quality.

Just picked up an F Sport version. Mat the Infotainment system is perfectly fine after a day of playing around with it, the heads up display is good. I don’t have the sunroof but that ok. The boot is big enough for most. The ride and handling is very good In F-sport trim with the adjustable dampers. I have also managed to get the mpg graph to 60mpg, not that often, but it is possible. The G meter is a nice toy, Loving it so far. Surprising how often you can drive in electric mode around town, even at short bursts... every drop counts..

If you compare the reliability of Lexus cars compared to other Brand’s the Lexus will certainly have extra points

I do agree about the look of the screen, but the mouse with its haptic response when you land on a button to be pressed helps keep your eyes on the road For size, price, mileage on the petrol version, the RX 350 was the way to go. As a long term owner of the f-sport version it's a wonderful car to own. Reliable, comfortable, powerful and luxurius. No one builds a better made car. The big plus for me is lexus after sales care....no o e does customer service like lexus. It's hard now looking anywhere else for me. The comfort over long distances can't be ovetstated but fuel economy is poor. Long term I manage about 29mpg. Its worth it though for the ownership experience.

Shame they’re so small inside. Was on my shortlist for next car but I’m 6ft 1in tall and the side of my head was touching the roof in ideal driving position, so have to sit too low to avoid. Plus, I tried middle back seat and it was like being hunched up in a small compact hatchback, just couldn’t believe it considering outside dimensions of car. Such a shame as I really liked the quality and wanted to test drive but wow, very compact interior

If you take your foot off the accelerator for just a second. Dont think its really for heavy footers. The boot isnt tall but area is ok. Very nice car to drive and plenty of accelation when needed. Nice car, but it's clearly designed for American markets, hence no diesel, beeping sounds etc. The biggest problem I have with it is that you either have to go for 2-litre front-wheel drive (not what you expect in this class) or the hybrid system which is getting outdated, this 3.5L V6 + electric motors unit has been used for quite a while and is slow and not as efficient compared to modern hybrids (although 44mpg is quite good to be honest, didn't expect that)

the Skyactiv 2.5L turbo would be amazing, plenty of low end torque

Interesting how different things are here. In the US Lexus are considered nearly as prestigious as BMW and Mercedes (probably on par with Audi), but Lexus has much better resale. No one wants to deal with the German reliability and maintenance costs. You can pick up a relatively new second hand BMW for the price of a common Toyota.

+FrederickGFX that's true. It's because there's this thing called badge snobbery in the UK

LOL logo lock, Lexus have the best resale value. Also the RX 350 sales in US last year sale 2x more than the next highest Suv brand. Which is the Q5.

Man Lexus in recent years. I'm sure the Toyota frugal DNA is still found here and there, but they are making beautiful cars.
