The K9s was a disaster for 25bb. With a guy who is pretty much priced in to call in the BB the SB has no real reason to mess with you.

uhh you realize k9s is way above 50% right so he doesnt care about a call from bb? lol
@Lexington365
@Lexington365 4 жыл бұрын
BakaRaymoo the big blind isn’t the issue. The bb has to call petty much anything so Lex should be folding some hands he would normally open. No point opening 67s with no fold equity right? So a min raise on the button should be a stronger range in the sb eyes because of the lack of fold equity from the bb. There is literally no reason for the sb to get out of line vs Lex in this spot so min raise folding doesn’t make you exploitable with a hand like K9s. Yes it’s a profitable shove but it’s not a losing raise / fold either.

You guys have to be literally the most results oriented people ever. Raise/folding off of a 25BB stack with K9 is easily the worst of the 3 options since we are going to get literally punished by the SB or any decent player who has any two cards. Stealing with a hand isn’t raise-folding to aggression when OVERALL we have them both crushed. THE FACT HE WOKE UP WITH IT DOESN’T MAKE IT A BAD SHOVE. How results oriented can you be? Has anyone actually put that spot into ICMizer or have any of the charts from Bencb or Upswing? K9s is in there and thats to avoid being outplayed. Also remember we are on the FT bubble right? That means everyone elses range needs to be EXTREMELY tight to call, not just ours. Passive play gets destroyed and losing 2.2BB’s unprofitably when shoving 25 there is for sure profitable makes no sense

When ur close to the FT of a big MTT you cant make standard plays You have to be better than standard Maybe that k9 is a good spot to steal, but sometimes in this kind of tourneys the most important thing is to survive; you dont need to steal every spot! Sorry to say Lex but I don't see a point in openshoving K9s. Why not just minraise? Neither opponent can't really flat anything with this stack dynamic anyway because BB jam would open the action for you again if SB decided to flat
@zizou357
@zizou357 6 жыл бұрын
big chance he will be outplayed vs the big stack with a minraise. The shove was the only way to really scare him off hands like A4, J8, Q10 etc... being out of position vs the guy with all the chips, well I get why lex moved allin...
@Yerr1337
@Yerr1337 6 жыл бұрын
He's not getting outplayed since sb barely has a bluffing bluffing range in this spot. That was just a terrible jam for such a healthy stack.
@zizou357
@zizou357 6 жыл бұрын
Yerr1337 "sb barely has a bluffing range in this spot" you joking right? ... Let´s say lex goes for a minraise instead. Iam_sound is probably well aware of Lex trying to go after the small stack in this situation, so that´s why a minraise won´t work. Huge chance the big stack will go for a 3bet if Lex makes a small raise, and what do you do then with K9 ?
@lari9496
@lari9496 6 жыл бұрын
First of all, Lex is In Position. Secondly, BB is almost never folding with his short stack so thats why Lex's opening range has to be somewhat strong, and for both reasons SB can't 3bet very light
@zizou357
@zizou357 6 жыл бұрын
yeah his in position, my bad. But the guy in bb has 800k or so in his stack, and I promise that Lex would love to see sb fold and bb go allin. You´re doing fine with K9 vs the range of the bb shoves (800 K is nothing). So the big stack can surely 3bet - fold and still have 20 million + in his stack , bottom line is that Lex was looking for the bb chips, and he wanted to get rid of the sb as quickly as possible. It´s easy to point out what a bad shove it was when the sb woke up with KK

Im not a tourney player and Im not here to argue I know more about tourneys than anyone else but I do play nl100 and I have a good understanding of poker dynamics. I strongly believe that r/f vs SB or r/c and play tight post is much better option than jam. When u jam u pick up the dead money or you lose to the BB and/or u lose ur stack to the SB. Yes in theory it is a profitable jam but not jamming might be more profitable. You can calculate how much money makes this jam in theory on the chip to money correlation at this point but...u cannot predict how far you would go by not jamming. And the money u make with the jam here is way to small to outperform the the probability of running deep if you do not jam here 25bb...

lajeandom The next pay jumps are minimal compared to the top 3 places. The SB won't call wider TT+, AQ+. That's not even 5% of all hands and he might fold TT and AQ. That means that atleast 95% of the time Lex wins the blinds or plays against the BB for 3BB. I don't understand how that could be a bad play.

Everyone sayin k9 was a bad shove u guys are wrong and has alot to learn. against weak opponents sure u can open 2.2 and get sb to fold but against a good opponent hes just gonna iso with so many hands knowing hes basically has like a 40% to run it against the bb plus with the dead money in there, and if lex had a hand and was trapping he has good equity against that too most of the time

I don't know about the K9 hand. Perfect spot to raise and if 3bet call (if shoved on, fold of course). IF it's +EV in the long run, then I'd say it is +EV during the normal phase of a tournament BUT NOT WHEN YOU'RE ALMOST SITTING AT THE FT OF A HIGH ROLLER!! You need to adapt in those situations and play tighter for sure!

i think the mistake you made in the K9 hand was not considering how profitable ICM wise it is to fold and let big stack bust him and then be 1 off the ft. 25bb is just too much to risk.. the chips you pick up in that "profitable shove" aren't worth it because all you're doing is picking up big stacks small blind and then you have to win a run out vs the bb where you're likely to not be more than a 60% fav.. for those reasons the shove is terrible.. but with that being said you are my fav streamer and love watching you.. keep the content flowing homie.

True, this mathematically may be an unexploitable push. But you simply must protect your tournament life in that situation. 25BB open shove shows your hand face up. Hands that beat you now know they can call. Same fallacy as pot commitment. This is not a Cash Game.

24BB openshove from the button, you have a wide range of hands but none of these hands are premium, cuz you wouldnt openrip QQ KK AA AKs from taht stack with this dynamics, I would only openrip K9 suited if the guy on my left is a big stack is super aggro on my opens, and if I dont have an egde postflop, otherwise, I always try to lower variance......wich sometimes can be done by openshoving of course....but is sucks, AT least the turn could have been a diamond or something

terrible idiotic shove with k9....in that spot you need to min raise, not shove. you cant shove with the chip leader to your left in case he wakes up with a hand like that.

Should have raise/folded 95% of your stack with K9. Just in case he wakes up with a hand. Live to win other hand
