The Macro Drive 1000 from Lezyne is one of the more powerful LED lights available that is designed to be fitted to an e-bike, and use battery power. This video gives a demonstration of how to install when using a Shimano Steps motor, a full review, and a lighting test comparison for the different modes.
Lezyne says:
A high-performance e-bike cycling light the macro drive is built from durable heat-dissipating CNC-machined aluminum construction and features two ultra high-output leds delivering up to lumens. An enhanced MOR optical reflection lens offers optimized illumination as well built-in side visibility. Intelligent auto day dim mode. Compatible input easily plugs into motors top makers including Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha. Includes direct X-lock CNC fork mount long power cable.
Our e-bike lights are powered by the motor/battery of an e-bike and need to be manually installed. Proper installation may require some disassembly of the bike and motor (depending on make and model, battery type) and additional wiring to connect the light to the motor. Please contact the e-bike or motor manufacturer for installation instructions. It is highly recommended to have a trained e-bike professional install your lights for you.

For anyone who is interested in this light and owns a Bosch motor, as he said it’s also compatible with Bosch too. What you want to do, is speak to your dealer when you buy the bike, and they’ll enable the “12V out” on your motor. Then when you’ve got your light, you’ll need to purchase a Bosch Front Light cable (they’re about $10-$15) as it has the correct plug on the end that goes into your motor. It’s a very similar install though. You take the motor cover off, take the plug out of the 12v socket, and plug the blue end in, then feed the cable up through your down tube battery compartment and up out the grommet then plug into your light! Then it will work with your Purion, Kiox, whatever display.

Nice review 👍if it's the same as other lezyne lights the overdrive function only has the highest setting and a lower setting meaning you don't have to cycle through all the functions, just a low and high beam. 🙂

Hello Matt. Thanks for your review. Can you tell me if the light saves the last mode, when you turn your bike off, or switch the light off via bike-light-switch (not on the light it self)? Or does it always reset to a specific mode when it has power again?

Does "Automatic daylight dimming" mean that the light switches on when it is getting dark or is the light always on.

The brightness reduces depending on the amount of light available. It doesn't go off completely.

Don't judge what you don't know, or understand. I'm medically not able to drive and my ebike is my transport. Hate all you want, but one day you'll be riding one through choice, or not.
