I understand 4 of the languages here and they definitely hired different people for each language, because their voices are a tiny bit different

The one who wrote the songs for Encanto is Lin-Manuel Miranda, the guy who wrote In the Heights, Hamilton, and Moana. He knows his stuff.

I can speak german, polish and english and I have to say, that I'm really impressed how good the polish version is. Om often a little disappointed when I hear the polish version of songs, because they mostly don't sound that good. This time however, the polish one is one of my favorites ❤

They hired so many different voice actors who can speak different languages to sing this in their own language and it's amazing, really :D

Disney has localization teams for each language. They handle translations and dubbing. If you watch on Disney+, go past the main credits to see the credits for the localization teams. Disney recognizes that most of their profit comes from box office outside the US and treats them with care.

I’m not a linguist, however, I do have experience in Japanese, and a bit of experience in Korean, Taiwanese Mandarin, and Thai. I think this flows quite well.

If you want to hear something really amazing, watch The Prince of Egypt, animated film from DreamWorks, telling the story of Moses. The late Ofra Haza, who voices Moses' mother Yocheved, dubs one song in English, French, Dutch, German, Greek, Swedish, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, Czech, Finnish, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese and of course, Hebrew.

The only exposure I've had to this song pre-Van has been my wife singing the English chorus to me. Great reaction, now I'll probably Hit that THANNGGG on the TV and watch the movie!!!

I speak nine languages. They do sound like the same actors for most of the characters from English to Spanish (Latin American). I have watched this movie fully in English, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin American) (My daughter knows this dialect while I speak Spain Spanish), French (France), German, and Japanese. I haven't found it in Irish Gaelic or Bahasa Indonesian yet. Still, they did a great job on finding their actors for this movie. They do very well when Disney makes any movie, really. I did the same with Frozen (the first movie). I love it. ❤️

It would make sense if some of the actors for the English version were the same for the Spanish, since almost all of them are from, or have heritage from, Spanish-speaking countries. Meaning, at least some of them are bilingual and could do it.

The russian was a little off in some parts, but it could have easily just been accent differences (or attempts to keep to the rhythm). I only know my parents russian.

The first three are the same, from what I read, but I'm pretty sure the rest are different people. This must be taken from when they dubbed the movie to their own languages. It's not the same person who dub the movie in all these languages lol

It was many years ago when I heard how they at the time contacted actors in the country that are too be dubbed, they asked and got the script and sent a copy of the movie in english so that they can watch and see how the story is. This actor watch it with his children and he hadn’t fully read the script so he thought he did the lead character and he didn’t he would voice another character. This was in the 90‘tis and he told it on a radio show in the summertime can’t remember the year, he didn’t say the movies name but I recognised it through the small descriptions he told about the movie.

I am fascinated by linguistics and have researched some languages and their ethnic origins, so I hope that counts: I can tell that each of these foreign vocalists for the film brought out the most of their dialects in the color of their performances. I can't tell what any of them are saying, since they sometimes change the lyrics slightly in translation, but I wouldn't doubt the accuracy of the use of their respective languages in their performances because, hey, Disney. I can probably recognize some of the languages being spoken without the subtitle of their name in some cases. I am actually learning a second language, Scottish Gaelic, which is not a very popular tongue, but I am passionate about it. I'm actually considering making a small We Don't Talk About Cover of Camilo's (the shapeshifter) part in Gaelic. I know the language enough to form together some translation for that part.

Unfortunately, even though I want to see songs like these in Gaelic, I don't believe there are any people who only speak Gaelic in the world anymore. It's only spoken by bilinguals.
