The launch made me get a Galaxy S7 Edge since I needed a new phone. Really bad. I waited weeks after announcement. Samsung and Apple announce a phone and release it within a week or two. LG needs get it together.

I got the V20 on 10/31 replacing my V10 and I could not be more happier. Some key things stick out to me using the new phone: Bottom Firing Speaker: MUCH louder than the V10. I was shocked at how more detailed and loud the sound was coming out. Battery Life: I get over DOUBLE the run time off the charger then the V10. I streamed music for 9 hours straight with Social Media switching here and there before hitting 20%. I see more dips in battery life when I am constantly on my phone but it is light years better than my previous phone. Durability: I dropped my phone and got the same knick on the side as you Juan, but the phone shook this off as nothing. I was pissed because I had a case on order and was delivered the next day. It feels slippery in my hands and it is such a pretty phone (to me) that I needed to protect it. Headphone usage/DAC: I have some Panasonic ErgoFit RP-HJE120-R headphones as my daily drivers.They have amazing sound for the price and the new DAC is definitely pushing better sound. It is much louder to the point where I have to turn it down because it's too much. I got the deal to get the B&O headphones for Free and I cannot wait to get those to experience real high quality sound. This phone is simply amazing. If you got the cash I recommend buying it.

Honestly I think it's best that not alot of people know...for those of us trying to come up as content creators that do know....This phone can save us alot of money and get us where we need to be(especially here on youtube) I just ordered mine a few days ago , can't wait to get it..... I'd rather pay $800 for a phone that can almost do it all than pay $5000- $10,000 on professional equipment that I really dont have alot of money for nor do I have too much time to waste sitting around trying to save up to get all that stuff, on top of that I do need a new phone. So then I can catch 2 birds with one net. I can't speak for anyone else but this phone is definitely worth it. And for those that don't know or even if they do they'd rather waste money on an iphone honestly that's their loss More for those of us who are smart about our SMART Phone choices.

This phone rocks, my favorite feature is the ESS ES9218 DAC, powers my 50ohm Sennheiser HD558s properly. As a comparison, the $199 Audioquest Dragonfly Red uses the ESS ES9016. This is the way I've always wanted my portable audio to sound. I even tested a few DSD tracks on the V20, the difference between DSD and FLAC is highly noticeable on the V20 by the way.

Watching this on my V20, already 2 weeks on it and I'm loving the camera and audio features. I'm planning to buy a GH4 and learn some video shooting and this phone has taught me way more than any tutorial about exposure, shutter speed and ISO. Like you said Juan, this phone is king when you fully utilize all its features. In fact, my colleagues went wow when they saw my phone.

wouldn't mind a push for thicker phones to eliminate camera hump and more spacious room for batteries

I've had this phone since launch day. It's been amazing. The only issue is definitely the battery when being used, but the standby time is great.

I am loving my v20 ! Best phone ever ! That screen is very bright, i love it ! Cameras are great ! 2 screens , hard to match from the competitors ! Love the back button to turn on or off ! The software is very fast and simple! Very good speakers ! Top notch headphone jack, take that Iphone ! 3 cameras on board, that you can use ate the same time to record vids ! The best phone ever, is true that once you go LG you never look back !

Here's the issue I have with the Lg V20. A co-worker and I were really looking forward to this phone when it was announced, but with all of the hands on reviews and not having a proper released date the Google Pixel was announced and our interest started to sway a bit. We were starting to become conflicted as to which phone we wanted or liked more. It all came down to whichever phone was released first and that would be the one we'd get and it so happened to be the Pixel. Neither of us are disappointed with our choice, but we were willing and wanting to give the V20 a shot. As great and capable of a phone as it may be, it just got lost in the shuffle of news about the Note 7 recall and the Google Pixel release and great reviews. They just didn't a presence for customers to get excited about or actually put their hands on. It's a real shame to, as this should be the de facto Note 7 placeholder until Samsung makes it's next move. Missed opportunity on LG's part.

I got this phone right after launch because of all the videos you had posted about it. I am such a big fan of LG and their marketing is their biggest downfall. Thank you for all the information you provide about technology, from Jaime's jokes to the endings Juan puts on his videos, it reminds me of the couch scene on the opening of the Simpsons, you can't help but tune in or you'll miss it. I've seen a lot of videos about tech online but you all have a standard for quality and an unbiased facts that go beyond anything I've come across. I still demo this phone to as many people as I can because it is such a unique device but sadly it never gets any love. Thank you Pocketnow for all that you do, can't wait to see the next video!

Juan, your the shit! I have been saying what you just said in this review for the last few months. OMG! Reviewer's who know nothing about a camera with manual mode, get to the reviews and say...the camera isn't that great because its not like the Samsung's or pixels! And my response is...LG never said that they are the best for point and shoot in automatic mode. I don't understand how these people who have a higher level of understanding don't get it! That's why i love LG, they don't give a shit about fitting into the norm of what's going on with everything else out there. Thank you for explaining what this phone is about its about, people who aren't afraid to try something new while allowing you to take full control. What it shows me is people love saying how they are in control until they are in control, then it becomes a problem! As i said...It doesn't mean a car is bad because it was only made with a manual transmission and you only know how to drive an automatic! And that's the problem, people love saying how they are in control but yet when control is handed over to them then they don't like it! I'm so tired of hearing that the V20 camera is not as good, because you can't shoot in manual mode makes it bad! Then they'll say...the pixel, Samsung and Apple does it better! Well i'm sorry you don't know your way around manual controls Content Creators! I guess i'm having problems comprehending what Content Creators means. I heard that within the next few years an award-winning documentary and or movie will be shot on a smartphone, well that won't happen if you don't know how to set the mood to the scene! I've had my V20 for a few weeks now and for some reason the music on my HTC 10 is louder and just sounds better...I'm no audio file but I can definitely hear the difference...

At 3:03 colors on the V20 look a lot whiter due to its IPS display. LCD is absolete, once you have an Amoled display, you cant go back or your eyes will melt.

Got the Phone today. I'm definitely loving it. Love how all the camera controls I had on the Lumia 950 are also on this phone, even better with video having those same controls. Then on top of all that, Audio having manual controls and overlay, with the ability to fine tune it. They really outdid themselves with this phone.

I have the V20 and G6 and I absolutely love and enjoy both devices

True LG v20 is clearly the best of 2016 that phone carry almost every thing you looking for in a smart phone

One of my son-in-laws has a V20. The glass over the rear camera has broken twice. The first time when it was brand new and AT&T exchanged the phone. The next time he had it for a little over a month and LG told him. 1. The repair will cost $80. 2. They were out of stock on replacement glass. That is really terrible customer support. He has been using another phone for the past few months. I recently ordered a new glass cover for the rear camera and will replace it for him. LG could have avoided this problem that many V20 owners are having by just designing the cover properly in the first place. Also, this is clearly a design flaw and LG's lack of addressing if this, very common, issue does not say much good about how LG cares for it's customers.

Great review, I have the V10 and hope to upgrade bout 6 months. You're right a huge population probably won't be exposed to this phone because of poor marketing on LG's part. As mentioned, the V series offers a bundle of cool features!

Yes the V20 is the ultimate best phone on the market! I've had it for a little over a month now and love everything about it, Plus with it having a removable battery and option for a SD card gives it a big plus for me! I'd suggest you try it out if your wanting a phablet sized smart phone that beast!

Have they made any updates to the software to get the shots captured by auto on the camera closer to V10 territory? That's honestly my biggest problem with this. In terms of camera performance, it's kind of a step back. What they accomplished before was perfect (besides the poor slow motion performance and motion sickness inducing "stabilizer").

Juan, can you describe the difference between lux and nits when referring to the screen brightness? You're the only person I know who refers to the brightness in lux.

Who cares about limited battery? Get another with the battery cradel (cradle? cradal? Idk). Then while your on your v20 just charge one battery while using the other. Boom. Never need to charge again.

I purchased a htc desire pro 20. Ended up being to big my audio kept echoing, long story short i returned that thing in one day. I ordered my v20 it'll be here maybe tomorrow so excited

I have the V20 and I got the Phone from Verizon for $372 with a trade in device. I don't really care much for the V20. The loudspeaker distorts and cracks yet my roomates V20 is crystal clear. Battery is okay but the screen is nothing special. Coming from Samsung the AMOLED crushes the IPS display in the V20 any day. Now the headphone DAC and Amp is really awesome. It's nice to have HiFi audio capabilities on the go. All in all I think LG did okay with this device but I wish they would've put an OLED display in this phone. I will keep it for now.

I really wanted to get this because I like iOS which in a way is Apples "stock android." I like the basic UI and whatever but I was just too worried that I wouldn't like it as I didn't like the Note 4 (which I know Samsung UI and stock android is very different). I went ahead and went with the iPhone 7+, because I've never been disappointed with performance and that's what I care most about. I also had to go for it because of the "iPhone every year" deal is just excellent.

I recently upgraded to the S7 from the S6 Edge, and I'm having some serious buyer's remorse. The S7 has terrible color shifting, and it drives me absolutely bonkers as I never experienced this on my Edge. Do you notice any issues with this on the V20? The audio implementation alone has me on the edge of clicking "add to cart," and if it doesn't suffer from the same screen issues as my S7, I'm sold on it.

This coming from a samsung snob... The ONLY reason I got this phone *In 2018 mind you* is my refusal to give up an easily swap-able battery since I carry a spare to swap in when on the go. My original launch purchased note 4 is still kicking but I was ready for something new and it's showing it's age. I was going to buy a new note 4 to replace mine but then.. for some reason.. I decided no.. I want something newer.. but with the battery option. The LG V20 was the only option I was seeing that was newer with a big screen I'm used to from my previous generations of the note line. I must say... I am impressed... I didn't have high hopes at all.. I figured "well this phone is from 2016 it's not going to be that good" I was wrong.. even today I am impressed with the upgrade from the note 4.. Yes I miss my S-pen terribly ... But that audio from the headphone jack... I thought all the reviews were BS thinking... Audio is audio.. how can my $40 earbuds sound any better on a different phone... OH... wait it does.... a lot.... then I thought "oh look another fingerprint sensor.. but on the back.. well this is stupid due to it being a big phone.. (I was used to the thumb sensor on the home button and having to swipe) so I ASSUMED it'd be finicky and just awkward in my hand to fight with.... also so very very wrong again.. That sensor works so much better than the note.. Oh... hey... that second screen is awesome as well.... and wow.. the responsiveness is wonderful too..... TLDR: Me being a DIE-hard Galaxy Note snob.... I.. am Impressed with this LG v20... I really... really... like it.... I miss my Spen but I'll get over it.

Recently left Samsung and I now love my V20, however I wish people would stop using the removable back cover as an excuse for the lack of water resistance. My S5 had (actually quite impressive) water resistance and the back cover was removable.

Would this phone be good for someone to dip their feet into proper photo taking? I can pull decent shots from my 6P but would like to dabble into something a bit more involved.

I checked out this phone and was happy overall until I noticed the light bleed at the bottom of the screen, mainly in the corners. Did some research and found it was a common problem. Make sure you check on this before you spend the $ and / or your 2 weeks is up. Good luck!

LG need to market and advertise their flagship phones even more. When Samsung and Apple release their flagship phones, all I see is advert after advert. When LG releases a new phone all I see is 2 or 3 ads here and there.

Not too many reviewers dig deep enough with this phone they just scrap the surface playing with auto mode and complaining about the ui and dull screen. It's not what I would call well built but it's a very capable phone if you're savvy. Another good review dude!

I've had the phone for a few weeks, it's a big jump from the G4. The cameras are the best LG has put out and the DAC is simply perfect. Not to mention the mic quality and manual controls are superb. I already used the mics on a film shoot as our boom died and it's great for mixing. The V20 is a content creator's best friend.

I miss play editions of phones... Would totally get with stock or near stock right now! Especially if Google financed them the way they do for pixel

spot on... the release was pretty poor... but I had the v10 and loved it, jumped to the gs7 for a while to taste the smaller size and picked up the v20 on release day... i love having that quality dac... also the free B&O h3 earbuds sound amazing... for pleasure listening I like them over my akg k240s

Nothing Can replace the Note 7. It will live in my memory as the greatest smartphone released so far that died too early.

Got that phone on ebay unlocked 620$ and absolutely love it, battery is much better than nexus 6p

I can't believe I'm ditching my iPhone 7 Plus for the LG V20 from being an iPhone user since the original iPhone well it was about time I switch to android and plus the quad DAC can really benefits me with my expensive headphones.

I hate that the google music and photo app are the default apps for the V20, the way it's set up is just stupid to me. I had mines for about a week now, and I still miss the convenience of the note taking on my old Note 4.
