Hello! I've had this phone for about a week now. It's the final retail software and hardware version - LG made a point of that in my brief last week. What do you guys want to know? Hit me!

People don't want headphone jack? In what kind of stupid world do you live? I have a couple of expensive wired headphone that cost more than many smartphones. Just to enjoy really good music because i prefer quality. So don't say that people don't want headphone jack. Its so stupid

I'm loving this phone! Once they dropped the price it was a no brainer. Battery life has been excellent so far. Of course it's not going to be the same as a 4000 mah battery but it's good for what it is. Reviews are usually biased towards the reviewer's perfered brand so I take them with a grain of salt. As someone else said you get this phone for the unmatched audio and the manual photography controls.

I've been using my LG G6 for exactly one year now, excellent phone, especially for the 420€ I paid for it in October 2017. I'm not too sure about the G7 and V40 though...

The V40 has one of the cleanest UIs on the market.

LG going back to their lg v10 dual front cameras and notch roots with the lg v40. Is your v40 a real release unit or preproduction. compared to the $1000 iphone 5.8" XS and $1000 Note 9?

Should i update from the lg v10 to to lg v40 thinq ? or is there a phone with a second screen ?

I personally like LG phones as in my country they're comparatively more affordable than Samsung or Apple. But one thing which is restricting me from buying a LG is their software update system. They're quite slow and it's quite hard here to fix a LG phone as there are very few service centers.

I loved my V10, have they kept their shot quality on manual shots since then?

On a side note i just bought a new LG g6 from T-Mobile and after i did a software update the welcome screen starts up displaying " LG G6 thinkQ", what's does the thinkQ stand for?... great phone by the way, still worth it.

Bought this on a verizon 400.00 off deal and wow i love it!! The display is great, sound with or with out a peripheral connected, battery life after like 3 charge cycles is great, its fast as hell, camera's and video are amazing! Ive had a lot different phones and LG keeps upping the game!

The LG V40 screen doesn't look as crisp because it's 1080p preset out of the box. You have too adjust it.

Wow I really can't wait for a reviewer that's not scared to say that this phone is good. This phone looks awesome and it has enough features to definitely buy it. The battery isn't bad, Jaime said it was fine.

Many deals on this phone ( which I'm using right now). Can get this for around $740.00 right now. Also, carriers like AT&T offering a $400 rebate when you trade your old smartphone in - cuts the cost to around $525.00. Sprint lets you lease it for $20.00 a month. Battery could be better. New updates for the camera helped with most of the blurring issues on the telephoto lens. Best 32 bit Hi-Fi quad dac available hands down. Memory should have carried over fro S. Korea at 128 / but with a free 256 micro SD card from Sprint, this phone has tons of space. Sadly, in my opinion this is a highly underrated phone.

One possible correction: you refer to the third rear camera as a 2x zoom - isn't it actually fixed focal length 50mm equivalent lens with a f/2.4 aperture? Also, regarding the apparent softness, only the "regular" camera has OIS, so, what you might be seeing it a little camera shake, since a 50mm is going to suffer more from your involuntary movements than a wide angle lens would. The wide angle really shouldn't need OIS, except for video, but LG should have included it on the 50mm. Looking at sample photos of the same subject, the 50mm looks pretty sharp, but possibly it is either softer in the edges, or maybe does have a little finer depth of field than the other cameras do, given the effect of using a 50mm focused on a subject that's quite close. The depth of field will naturally be thinner in that case.

I've heard rumors that the rear cameras are actually a wide angle, primarily and depth camera. This would explain why the telephone camera is so bad and takes so long to take "Triple Shots". Let's hope Jerry Rig will have an answer.

These v series are sooo badass... The morrocan blue I have is gorgeous... I wear a rugged armor but I take it off when I'm using it in bed or around soft places because it's just so beautiful

The default setting for the display is 1080p. That might be why it looked less sharp compared to the Note 9. You can change it in the settings to make it 1440p.

The screen looks as good as a galaxy 9. The music through this phone, especially the quad dac. After going from the s8 + its running nice. The manual camera is sub par. Due to the manual mode in the s8+ is all manual while the v 40 you need to switch cameras to get to other controls. As far as worth. It so far has more customization then the s8+ is nice, the audio is far better head phones or not, the video recording is beautiful, the video reproduction is great as long as the source is good. As far as how the ui is. I was a samsung guy since the instinct. This v40 has been simple to get use to and learning how to use the same functions just meant learning the way lg and google want it phrased. Its been a great phone for know and i got mine on sale for 500. The only bad i have to say is battery. Since the screen is so nice i do keep it on the highest resolution. So maybe if i took advantage of the battery saver it may be a bit better. But it is a smaller battery. Have a good day .

Actually sticking with my LG g7 thinq , not impressed by the telephoto lense or the extra lense in the front. I've owned the v10,20,30 and now the lg g7 thinq. Usually I upgrade but this time around I'm not wowed at all.

Yeah they should have put like at least a 3800 milliamp battery in there. they probably need to link up with a camera manufacturer to improve their software for their camera as it seems to run very slow. I think with a really good software update and maybe LG maybe needs to look into some software optimization for applications and some things that might differentiated even more I would have liked to have seen the earphone speaker used for stereo although the Boombox sound is nice I think we're in an age where we're all hoping for stereo speakers.

And if you care about price/performance the LG v30 from last year is even better. Better battery life, no notch, perfect size. And you can find it for ~400$. It "only" has the snapdragon 835. But that's still a very fast chip...

I've made a tactic of buying phones. I bought my G6 for £200 used and the G5 is £120 used if I wanted to buy one. If the trend stays the same im hoping in like 8 months or something (I bought my phone like 4 mths ago) I might sell my G6 for £120 and grab a G7 so that would be an £80 upgrade (assuming trends stay the same and I will be able to get a g7 for £200 used)

Best part of LG phones os not only they continue with most dated technology hardware ,a 3.5mm headphone jack but further enhanced with quad DAc . Wired head /earphone are way better than wireless phones . Lg will sale there phones on this unique feature alone and 80 %people like earphones every now and then .

Oh look, another phone with a notch. This is the reason I just stopped waiting for future phones and bought the Note 9. Even though I didn't want a big phone, now that I have it, DAMN is it an amazing piece of hardware. Can't wait for February for the S10 anymore.

4-5 hours screen on time is pretty good. Above average at least.

The price ain't competitive at all considering the cost is $900 for a 64gb based variant. If Lg was to put 128gb as a based model I think it would have been a lot better. I got this phone $200 off ATT and I traded in my old phone to get an additional $300 off. So the cost went down to $400. But without the trade it it would be $700. Lg promotion is also stupid that you have to submit a claim to get the 256gb micro sd card and it takes forever to get to you. I bought the note 9 for my wife at a store and got the gifts right at the spot without waiting or having to submit anything. Lg should handle the marketing a bit better so at least they can compete with Samsung. Otherwise it's gonna be a flagship that drops price like crazy after a month or two because rarely anyone wants to buy it. Accessories is another concern since I could not find any case or screen protector at the store for it. Bestbuy clearly does not have it, ebay has some but they are all trash. Like cmon Lg, you could have done it better.
