I'll compare LG’s PK3 XBOOM Go to five other similar speakers. As the smallest of the XBOOM Go trio of portable Bluetooth speakers. It’s missing a few features of its larger siblings, namely party mode where you can link multiple speakers; and their various lighting modes, but it’s far smaller and it has an IPX7 waterproof rating rather than their lesser IPX5.
It retails at around £99 but it’s very often reduced to half this price on Amazon so check the link below. Could this be the perfect compact Bluetooth speaker? I’ll be comparing its output to some similarly sized speakers: the JBL Flip 4, the Anker SoundCore Boost, the Tribit MaxSound Plus and the Tronsmart Force. And I’ll also include the larger but similarly priced Anker Motion+ for good measure.

Not bad at all, better than other LG bt speakers ive heard so far. The JBL sounded pretty close and was my favorite sub 20wt speaker this year. Anker Motion Plus has WAY more power than used in this clip. With their free app, EQ presets & settings are 100% customisable and savable. That's what Im going with so far, 30wt, $100, waterproof. Yèp. Almost unfair to include it in this group, but im glad you did bc the price is reasonable enuff I guess.

Very helpful video. Is there significant differences between LG PK3 and Soundcore Boost? As I heard, PK3 gives a little metallic sound which I dont like. I would prefer Soundcore Boost's sound but it is more expensive. Which one do you suggest? I really can't decide. Thanks.

Thank you Gökay Sezen! It's a difficult one - I think the PK3 has slightly better clarity in the mids, but if you prefer more bass I'd go for the Boost. Features-wise the Boost has a the power bank feature but micro-USB charging. The PK3 has the newer USB-C charging ...

I LOVE your review of features & characteristics & usage of the speaker. EXCELLENT job there. To call "Meridian" a "British audio specialist manufacturer" understates who Meridian actually is, speaker tech-wise. Most folks aren't aware of the quality-level speakers go (or cost), but there's a whole other world, like the Tannoy bookshelf speakers in my studio ($15K 30 years ago) or Meridians. My previous comments about choice of audio to demonstrate sound apply here. These audio sources are too over-processed & inorganic, bereft of a broad & wide frequency range with nearly non-existent dynamic range (and as always I am listening with headphones). I absolutely ADORE that you put other similar Bluetooth speakers on for comparison. It's THAT kind of stuff I find incredibly valuable: if your microphones aren't the best (or my headphones, likely) I can still get a feel for the *relative* sound quality between speakers. To answer your question: either Tribit or Anker I thought were best. AlsoCheers!

Thanks! Probably between the PK3 and Flip 4 - the Flip is a little smaller and louder IIRC, but doubt you'd be disappointed with either!

Thanks A F! If you listen - they'll all recorded at 75% volume. IIRC not much in it. It's hard to beat the clarity of the Tribit - but the LG has a nice well rounded sound.

And if you can buy lg xboom go pk3 or tribit xsound go (max sound plus little brother) at the same price which one you'll get?

Yes the treble and mids for that matter have more a little more detail with the Tribit. If they are the same price - I would honestly look at design and features and what's important to you. Personally I like the design and build of the LG - it also feels a bit more rugged - and the USB-C charging is convenient.

Last year I bought Lg xboom pk3 and after many times charging, the USB type c charging port are broken and I must send it to lg VN for warranty. I think that users should be careful when they plug in charging cable to the port ( you must plug straight the cable to the port)

No they are the same - just aesthetic differences. The bigger models had firmware updates that brought them in line with each other but not the PK3 IIRC.

In the sound test all speakers were set at 75% max volume so you can hear for yourself their relative loudness hopefully ...

No offense, overall review is good based on fatures. Biggest problem is, cant compare speakers audio like this unless its recorded with proper gear, most notacibly microphone. All sounded boxy and super tinny im afraid, they most likely (i hope, my tiny brava mini sounds 100x better than the auido that came out of my HiFi speakers) sound a lot better IRL. Check out speaker toni on the tube for audio comparison, he has the correct gear and the audio is more representative to real world listening

Always happy to receive feedback so definitely no offence taken. I am using quite expensive Sennheiser binaural microphones for my recordings. Of course one could always spend more money on equipment - but it hopefully it at least gives you a comparative listening experience. The sound test is meant to compare the audio quality of the speakers. The even slightly quieter speakers would be too quiet to hear properly if this test was also a loudness test. I have used a sound meter in some of my reviews but not this one. The Tronsmart Force is probably the loudest - but the LG is also pretty good.

Try adjusting the playback speed to 0.75x if it's too fast for you - let me know if that helps. You can also enable captions - I have full transcripts for all my videos.

where the heck did you get that crappy demo music? It's horrible. Please use better music with acoustic instruments and vocals that don't have processing on it. electronic music is not a great way to demo a speaker system, especially when you don't even listen to that garbage...

Believe or not I have to pay to use any music including this track. Sorry you don't like it. Very difficult to please everyone - but you can see some of my other videos where I have different tracks which you may prefer - and IIRC this speaker features in some of them.

It's the quality of the recording is what is important and using acoustic instruments that are of high quality recording with no signal processing. It's harder to reproduce those recordings and it will give a better idea of how well the speakers can reproduce those sounds.
