I didn't think it was important that they are gay. It's about as important as Kevin being black or Avi being Jewish or Kirstie being Latina. They all have things in common and are different, that's why the ending is so important. We're all human. Nothing else matters. 😊

I love your reaction to this emotional song. The diversity of the group is definitely one of the very special things about them. They are a band, a family, despite what appear to be differences between them. They are a beautiful example to others of what is possible when we take people as they are without pre-judging based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. I love them dearly for it.

Scott Hoying is engaged to Mark Manio. You should really watch his first single solo release….Mars!!! It is a love tribute to Mark. Pentatonix is very diverse which makes them even more amazing ❤️

😆 your reaction to that first card made me lol. since you're interested, scott & mitch are both gay but aren't together. they dated each other for a bit in high school, and they both dated kirstin when they were younger, too. kirstin herself is bisexual but she didn't come out publicly until a few years after they made this video. i've seen some reactors get annoyed when fans comment anything about their personal lives, so people might just be concerned about your boundaries if they hadn't mentioned it before. thanks for reacting, keep it up! ✌

What a wonderful and heartfelt reaction (plus, I loved the intro!). I'm sorry you were "left out of the loop" on Mitch and Scott being in the LGBTQ+ community...but that means nothing to those of us who truly love them and their music. The passing of the cards show the differences, as well as the connection, between the members. We are all connected. Just so you know, as an example, I'm really touched by you and love your reactions...and I'm a 70 yo white, retired female. We have a connection! Keep it up young man!

You're right that the cards tell something about themselves, and when they pass them on, that's something they share with the person next to them. It highlights both the diversity and common ground between them. And of course, in the end, the thing we all have in common. We're all just human, out here trying to be ourselves. The differences make us unique individuals. We shouldn't be using that to divide ourselves, but to appreciate each other and live in harmony.

Very genuine reaction, sorry if we left you out of the loop. Because you asked, here's the tea: In HS, first Mitch and Kirstie dated, then Scott and Kirstie, then Scott and Mitch. They all remained friends after, and when Pentatonix formed to audition for the sing off, Scott & Kirstie had just finished their first year of college, while Mitch had to skip his HS graduation to audition. Avi and Kevin were a few years older. 12 years later, Scott's out as gay and engaged to Mark Manio, their wedding is scheduled for early July. Kirstie is out as Bi and partnered with Ben Hausdo, a photographer/videographer who often works with Pentatonix. They have an 8 month old daughter. Kevin and his wife Leigh have a daughter who is 2, I think. Matt and Sarah had their first wedding anniversary in January. Matt is a little younger than Mitch so he's now the groups youngest member. Mitch is gay and enjoys using fashion to play around with gender performance (you'll sometimes see him perform in skirts or dresses). He isn't really looking for a relationship right now. He's been open about being super bullied in the past and struggling with anxiety and depression. He's in a good place right now and very happy with his current medication and therapy and his side project as Messer, amazing dark EDM music. Avi, who also struggled with mental health issues, left amicably in 2017 when his mom was sick and he needed a lighter touring schedule. He took a year off music, and now books shorter tours in smaller venues by preference, as he never enjoyed the larger crowds Pentatonix was drawing. He's an indie folk-rock artist now and seems fulfilled with his choices. He's very private about his private life, though I presume he is straight since he's only publically been seen with ladies. And that's what you missed on glee. 😉

I'm sure nobody mentioned it because it's not important and it's their personal lives. I love this video though and am glad they can be accepted and loved by so many of us.

I love that this one moved you so much. I love that they cards they passed between them showed what they have in common as well as how they are different i.e. Mitch and Scott are both gay, Scott and Avi are both men, Avi and Kevin are both American and Kevin and Kirstie are both Christian. The wall of sound after Kirstie's card is insane and I love that Kevin got to show off his pretty tenor voice too. 😍

I cried too when I first saw it. It was right after Trump became president and stopped people from Arab countries coming to America overnight. It put the country in a tail spin. We knew it would be bad. We didn’t know it would be WWII East Berlin bad in the first 3 months! They said that it is their diversity in their vocals, their musical tastes, who they are - all different that makes the beautiful harmonies they make. I cried like a baby.

Not letting you know is all about the joy of seeing someone new experience "the Mitch slap".

As others have said, no one said anything about their sexuality because it really doesn’t matter. I believe it’s just one of many aspects of who they are genetically such as left or right handed, brown/blond hair, male gender, Caucasian, etc. Enjoying your PTX journey 😊

Imagine by Pentatonix may be one of the most important videos of this century. This group took a classic, timeless song of tolerance and peace and modernized it as only they can. They are a perfect example of what respect and love can be like. Five people with differences in race, religion, gender, and sexuality can do beautiful things when they work together. I cried when I saw and heard this the first time. I still usually tear up when they go into Wall of Sound mode. Pentaholics are the ones who need to see this the least.

It wasn't mentioned cause to us their fans, it doesn't matter. It's a part of who they are and what makes them so special. Mitch got bullied a lot in school and it took him awhile to accept who he is. As one of the million Mitch fans, have never been so proud when Mitch turns his card over.

You missed seeing Kevin sing the last verse because your eyes were closed. With Pentatonix videos you miss a lot by closing your eyes and not actually watching the full video.

We didn’t let you know because it’s about the music and everybody eventually figures it out. Scott and his fiancé, Mark, are getting married in July. Wondering if you caught that Kevin sang the last verse. It’s a rare sight. Recommend their cover of Say Something.

That discordant "choir of angels" moment breaks pretty much everyone. If it doesn't, you might actually not be human. And sometimes we forget to tell new people about their orentation, mostly because we forget. But also, we've had our fair share of people who were supposed to be fans who instantly lost interest in the group when their connection to LGBTQ+ community came up. Scott and Mitch are both gay. Kirstin is bisexual. But this incredible diverse group proves that people from all walks of life and backgrounds can be supportive of one another and do beautiful things together.

I just need to ask, why is it important for you to know who Mitch and Scott are sleeping with? I mean if I was sitting next to a blind person I would not tell them you were black. Because what does it matter. I don't care either way. I like their music I listen. I am not trying to shame you, or get on to you, or say you did wrong, you did what most people do, even if they don't care. But, I hope for the day, when people can just live their life, and not have someone mention who they are sleeping with, or what color their skin is. Don't tell me you don't see skin color, because you do, that would be like saying I can't see the color of your car. I don't pay attention to skin color, I ignore it, and I look past it, and I look at the heart. What kind of person are you, that's important to me, not black or white, straight, gay, Christian, Jewish, or anything else. can you try to be like that, and that question is for anyone reading this that does not already live that way. New Subscriber here - I cry every time I hear PTX hit the sweet spots - and this video touches me from my eyes to my ears to my heart. It was wonderful to share that with you.

I have watched this video many times, and each time, I can't help but to believe that John Lennon would be so pleased to see his song interpreted this way. He was a total believer in peace and equality. I loved seeing the emotion ❤️ in your face as the words touched your heart.

If we all could live as one, it would be a more humane place to live.

Clever.... opening the fridge and cabinet so we could see you like we were sitting in those places. Sorry we didn't keep you up to speed on Mitch/Scott. They all consider each other family. Now Matt has joined the group, he is a Christian, too. Kevin's dad is from Nigeria and Matt didn't know until recently that his ancestors came from Nigeria, too. Small world!!!!

John Lennon wrote this song back in the late 70s early 80s and all he wanted then was to live in harmony as one "HUMAN" and except each other for who they are. If Yoko Ono thought that Pentatonix would destroy this song she wouldn't of let them do it, John Lennon would be proud of this version.

We didn't mention that Mitch is LGBTQ+ for the same reason that we didn't mention that Kevin and Matt are black.

What does it matter?They are loved by God regardless or religion, sexual orientation, color, and nationality. I don’t look at them and say “he’s gay, he’s Jewish, he’s Christian, she’s Latina, or he’s black. I see brothers and sisters.
