Best advice I was ever taught by my instructor when I was a cocky new driver all those years ago was “if you can’t see what’s there, stop, get out and look”.

Hey mate am on an older video of yours here absolutely incredible driving mate am baffled how you reversed a rig that size out that one lane street down that road well done

Jesus. Hard work that. I would be concerned going back out forward. Well done.

Stressful reverse - got it dun though with no collateral damage - You should do a reverse 'tips' video as it is without doubt the most difficult aspect of arctic' driving
@davidhall87457 ай бұрын
Great driving there and I would be worried about getting out!

Don't care how many shunts I do as long as I don't hit anything . Some days straight in others not so great . Nice vlog.

That was a top class reverse in the DAF XF Barry.

Should get yourself one of those wireless reverse cameras, easy to put on and easy to take off, screen is inside, makes reversing 3 times easier because you can actually see where shits going.

I had enough years of doing that in and out of London 5/6 dayia week.I just dont need the stress and agro of it anymore i stick to night trunking these days its much easier.But you're absolutely right if in doubt get out and have a look.And as good old Ralph at Stockport HGV training said to me all those years ago DON'T BE A CU#T JUST GIVE IT A SHUNT!!!🤣🤣

Brilliant reverse although should never be sent to those places in an artic truck
@ChattingWithMeHGV7 ай бұрын
It was for a block of flats that was being built. There was a crane in there waiting to lift the concrete flooring beams off the back of the trailer and up to were they was going to get fitted. Only way in and out of site was down that alleyway

I would have switched that bloody reverse horn off.
@peregrineme874911 ай бұрын
Apologies if I'm dense, but what is a "shunt" that you're trying to avoid?
@Brickhazard11 ай бұрын
Going forward because you have got the angle wrong on the trailer. Either too much lock or too little. You pull it forward a bit to get your unit in a better position to complete the manoeuvre.
@peregrineme874911 ай бұрын
@@Brickhazard thanks for explaining

What was the total length of your unit and trailer?
@user-dy3vt9sg8j8 ай бұрын
Reason I ask is because I know the street you are on and the alley you are backing down.

@@user-dy3vt9sg8jI’d say 40 ft trailer plus can 50 ft all in all

It’s a bit of an Awkward one that. I work for a company round that area that delivers Furniture. I get some Horrible reverses quite a lot. Passed class 1, 1 year ago. Been on class two for experience and jumped on class 1 about 2 months ago.

There is no way I would attempt that - I would not place ANY wheel(s) on that pavement - look at the old houses, they may very well have coal cellars under/near the pavement & it also looks like the cable companies have been digging & we all know how good they are at backfilling. All the time us HGV drivers continue to "manage" things are hardly likely to improve.
