lhasa apso must have long hair. But you can make haircut for lhasa dog. It doesn't harm the dog's health.

lhasa apso grooming looks like shih tzu haircuts because they have a similar coat.
A good coat length is 0.8 ".
This lhasa apso haircut is called "puppy".
If you want to have a coat long, here are some guidelines for lhasa apso hair care:
1. Brush your dog's hair every day using a light brushing spray.
2. Keep lhasa apso hair always clean.
3. Use shampoo and conditioner for long hair.

Love this patient boy's temperament. I hope he had breaks and treats for his good behavior. He's been groomed many times and knows the procedure well. My little Lhasa is a contortionist when it comes to the areas he doesn't want me working on. He's not aggressive in any way but knows where his trouble areas are.

@@GroomerOK sorry I never even saw your reply to my comment until just now. I had 4 Lhasa’s and a Shih Tzu. Sadly I now have only one of the Lhasa’s having lost the others to old age 😔 I also lost my Tzu to a horrible illness 😭 In addition to my remaining Lhasa I have a Tzu x Pug who has a coat that needs clipping very regularly, his coat grows so fast!

@nixnix It’s ok. I'm sorry you lost your Lhasa. Your Shi x Pug is mix breed? How do you trim him and what is the quality of his coat?

@@GroomerOK yes he’s a 50/50 mix. I did a DNA test after I adopted him as I was curious to his heritage although I did guess that was his mix. I do him in a puppy cut, as well as I can anyway with my limited grooming skills lol. I’m much more experienced grooming a long coat. His hair is a bit on the wiry side and kinda grows outwards rather than flat. He’s a really super little dog!

I would like to see an "at-home" grooming of a lhasa apso that is not quite so short. The trick is to leave some of the natural long coat of the dog. It's just too short for a lhasa apso.

I agree. The clipping was done nicely, but the coat hair is left too short.

@candyapple7445 This Lhasa Apso lives on a farm. I give him a short haircut so that it is convenient for his owner to care for him and so that this dog doesn’t have tangled coat. Thanks for comment!

Thank you for the comment! During Grooming, I talk to pets all the time. If a pet misbehaves, I teach him to obey and I give dogs treats as a reward. It takes a lot of time, but thanks to my patience and a little training during Grooming, pets begin to listen and behave well. And these little workouts with encouragement or play make grooming a dog less boring for them. And they are happy to come back.

The last groom for our Pee Dee girl was not very Gentle. Pee Dee passed September 2022 We now have 11 week old Lhasa Apse Sarah hoping for a better groomer near Bend Oregon

3-3/4 FC for the puppy cut look, 10 for the sanitary and 30 for the paws. I use a mini-arco with a 30 fine cut for the face. I'm an amateur home groomer for my 2 Lhasas who are both two years old and not patient at all!

I have a Lhasa Apso and I'm hesitant about making a mistake in his groom. I've trimmed some of his hair down but I'd like him shorter for daycare. Is a 7f better or should I use a 4 or 5 blade? What blade length did you use?

7f would be really short, if you want him short use a 5f I do mine on 3f it’s about half inch of fur left

You could have turned of the sound enjoyed the video and not made any comment at all, just remember theses groomers give up their own free time to educate us , they don’t deserve a slap on the hand just because you didn’t enjoy the background music.
