that story is how I stumbled upon this song lol. Read the interview with Liam about it, exactly like you said, wouldn't take a penny. Even brought his own wine as you say lol Cantona was a one off, and so was Liam. Amazing video and song. Liked "born on a different Cloud" he wrote in Oasis, but wasn't keen on Beady Eye. This is proper good though. An actual masterpiece of music and video, a masterpiece of music anyway but the video just makes it soar. why did I not know about this for two years? lol

Can't help but think what a great analogy this song is to football. Research actually shows that a lot of football pros after retiring either ended up depressed or bankrupt. That drastic change going from thousands of people chanting your name every single day as you run and win trophies for your club and country to suddenly nothing must be extremely hard. Which is why I think Cantona probably loves this song so much, he represents an era long gone, when everything seems much more exciting and you can live everyday like it's your last. But it's also a realisation that all parts of life is beautiful in its own way, and no matter how much you want to go back to the past you can't. It's relishing what's left now when the wine has finally aged, all the bittersweetness of it all, and realising that life is so worth living because you've done it all once.

2009 was the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. The cathedral in Liverpool was holding a service for the victims. Stood at the back all by himself was Eric Cantona, paying his respects. A passionate United fan, fiery, complex but ultimately a great man.

I watched this videoclip somewhere in the night after a day of working on my dads funeral. Agressieve tears I cried. Thank you french and english legends!! Both men who live forever!!

This song fits so well with Cantona, or any sportsman who's lived in the spotlight but has now moved on and is left with the memories of their career. Although Eric did say once he put his medals in a plastic bag in a drawer and moved on as he didn't want to be defined by his past. But every player must dream of the days when they had 75,000 people singing your name, once.

Our kid passed away on November 14th last year. My birthday was the 27th, his the 28th...he was 4 years my junior, he nearly made it to 46. I'm the one that did the army and police. Whilst training and deployed we loved Liam's voice, attitude was similar to us Yorkshire lads. Our kids mates all bought this album...he loved this song, the last he ever sang with his mates. I've bought Liam's albums, I've played this track over 100 times, just reminds me of our nipper and floods memories back. Cheers Liam, top track, top album. Kind regards Dave.

No they are not references, its just Liam has never had an original idea in his life, pretty much the Oasis way to rebrand classy ideas and make them there own. I'm a huge oasis fan and Liam and Noel without doubt my biggest influences in life not just music! But I call a spade a spade not a shovel! Don't change a thing though they are mega fantastic! The location, the rooms all spent and empty from the finished party.......you look back at everything in your life.....you remember the wonderful and carefree younger years.....they dont last long....................nostalgia hits you right between the eyes and you know those old times are gone forever....

I always think of the story of Liam getting bashed in the head with a hammer when he was in school. I imagine he took some damage then and if unattended, his brain was a bit mangled. Add the coke and other substances and its a perfect recipe for Liam having issues. He wears his soul on his sleeve unlike Mr Potato head.
