Also, we had unusually cold August here and not only they stopped growing for a while, but they also dropped some flowers. Hello! You can speed up the germination process by heating the soil. These germinated at room temperature (18-20°C/64-68°F) so it took longer. Peppers love compost 🌱 Thank You very much! ☺🍀

​@@CrypticCayenne I did 🙂It's supposed to fasten the germination process of certain seeds. Though, I don't cut anything. For example for nasturtiums I take seeds between tweezers and slowly push until the outer shell cracks. I don't do it with peppers though. Hello. If You have long enough growing season, You can try. But unless that is the case I wouldn’t do it as it will prolong the time needed to set the fruit and therefore harvest.

Hello! You absolutely do not have to cut the tops off to bush them out. I started these in late January, which is pretty early so I knew they will have enough time to grow big enough and produce ripe fruit. According to the weather conditions You've described, I probably wouldn't touch them, except pruning side shoots. The thing with cutting the tops off is that if You have long enough season, they will produce bigger harvest, but it will take longer. When it comes to Bell peppers, I don't find it reasonably different to cut the tops off. I just remove first flower if it appears too early (when plants are still small). Hello and thank You for Your feedback. You are right, I live in climate where I have to start hot pepper varieties very early in the year (started these in late January) and grow them on windowsill. Which means much slower growth rate with little sunlight they get. Yes, cells are not the best option, when peppers got rootbound it takes them quite long to get back to growing after planting, but as I've already mentioned, they were grown on windowsill along with other plants (herbs etc.), so they are all kind of fighting for space, if I transplanted them right into single pots, I wouldn't have enough space for other plants on windowsill. Could be much better harvest, but we had terribly cold week in August last year, not only they stopped growing for that week, they also dropped some flowers. Long long time ago we've started from Habanero yellow like yours in vid (we call them gold)) Yes superhot peppers is January) about 200 of them seedlings right now) trying sugar rush stripey full on this year. All the best to you too bro ps we use cheap led 36W lamps with timer, even 2 (4 better) do wonders, regular light (18hour/6h) is the key word & a small fan makes them sturdy @@Liap

we sell 1-2 month seedlings & peppers after harvest. Yes that is why sugar rush stripey - they look&taste amazing. Since most people like no more than 30K scovilles, noone wants our scorpions and nagas) ps thinking about an idea after harvest selling some plants as bonchis)) @@Liap

If grown in smaller containers, they will need regular fertilizing. Growing flowers attracts natural pest predators, if You are having serious pest problems, neem oil is pretty effective.

Hello. The watering frequency increases as they grow. Especially once they start putting on fruit. When plants are packed with fruit, they may require daily watering on clear sky days. What is the temperature? As much as they thrive in warm weather, if it's too hot, they will do exactly what You've just described.

@@Liap well after two months my habanero peppers died infact never sprouted because of severe heat wave of summer season in Pakistan and india. I will again try to grow them in fall or winter

But I grew habanero peppers in an old greenhouse where temperatures rise to 40°C or even exceed it during the hottest summer days and with enough watering, they can handle it. To increase germination rate, You can soak the seeds for 12-24 hours before planting them. Or try germinating them on wet paper towel. Hope that helps ☺🍀

@@Liap all good. long story short: Fungus Gnats, to early re-potting and bad soil. Now I have got some plants from a online shop (3x Vicentes Sweet Habanero, Ata Big Habanero, Sugar Rush Stripey, Sweet Chocolate, Shishito, Scarlett Varigated, Naga Twister Multicolor(black), and one Peperoni that my girlfriend got from a local store nearby. 2 Jalapeno seedlings and 2 Haba(nadas?) seedlings lol (cheap supermarket chili mix) All other plants got sick, not growing or I just get rid of them today. The Sweet Chocolate goes outside if the weather gets better here (Germany - NRW) the Scarlett and Shishito will be my new indoor desktop friends. I'm now focusing on get at least one fruit for seeds and tasting test and then keep them happy/alive hahaha. Have a great day ^^

Hello. I grew these in zone 6, which is not exactly their origin weather. And I started them at the end of January if I remember correctly, so they were growing very slowly as seedlings (short days). Accroding to google You live in zone 5, but I think You should give it a try. We also had very cold August last year which also slowed them down. But if You are going to try, You'd better start them seeds right now 🌱

You can overwinter chilis! I grow mine in pots and currently have a 3 year old orange habanero plant that keeps producing.

Have You tried soaking the seeds for a day before planting? It can help rise germination rate, especially if the seeds are old. Also, try covering the pot with plastic wrap. It will keep the moisture inside and You won’t have to water it. Seeds like constant moisture.

Depends on weather, once they start yellowing and You harvest them regulary, it goes pretty quickly. I harvested the rest in about a week.

Yes it definitely would. But I didn't have enough light for them (windowsill) in their seedling stage and using heatmat would make them leggy. This way they were growing slowly, but not leggy 🙂

Yup, I germinate every seed separately and am extremely careful with the tail to not damaging it.

Everytime you repot them they stress and make stronger roots.

By germinating multiple Seeds in one pot he can pick out the strongest seedlings and doesn't waste space for weaker seedlings in an individual container. Also he can pick from more Seedlings, which he wants to keep.

Plants are much stronger than they look. The "unnecessary transfer process" is not creating any potential failure point if done right. Even if You do it bluntly and break a root or two, they will recover. Plants want to live and they will do everything to do so. You can plant the seeds directly in containers, there is no problem about that. But I start most of my plants ahead of the growing season. When it comes to Habanero peppers, I don't grow them in their country of origin, so I start seeds during winter when it's freezing cold outside and by this way I can start plenty of them in small space, transplant them and still move them around while nights are too cold for them. If I'd start them when the temperatures are warm enough for them, they wouldn't ripe until the season is over where I live.

Hello. I don't like to overdo videos with text. If You want to know more details, I am trying my best to be present in the comment section and response. I don't explain how to keep temperature constant, because it will differ from zone to zone. In some areas these can be grown all year round, in others, they can't (outdoors). The soil compression is important if You don't want to end up having growbags half-empty after the soil settles. The water requirements depend on so many factors and I would not like to give some general advice on it, as it will differ based on growing conditions, size of plants and their growing stage. The best advice on watering would be - check the soil and You will easily know if it requires watering or not. How much light? It's peppers - as much as they can get. When? I mean, can You control the sun? How to avoid water stagnation? Well, use cells with holes (I think every seedling trays have them) I didn't use grow-box, thermostate or artificial lights. I started these in winter. During the day they were in greenhouse and during the night, indoors. I am not a professional gardener nor do I live in the habanero peppers country of origin, so they can be grown differently elsewhere with better success for sure. I just grow plants and make videos about their growth cycle. In the case anyone would be interested. I hope I responded to all Your points.
