What jealous silly fools gave this a thumbs down. He was a great pianist a great showman. Wonderful personality. He had the ability to laugh at himself. A humble talented person

What a brilliant performance by Liberace. To play when the clown is dancing in front of him. Wonderful and so sad. I’ll always miss you Liberace You brought happiness to so many people. You deserve a Statue.

Bravo!!!! Younger people just don't have the memories that we who were around do. It was so different. Many of us almost never went out for a regular daily meal or even for the evening. Instead, we might fix some popcorn or other simple treats, turn on the television, and the entire family would sit around and be entertained by absolutely legendary musicians, singers, actors, comedians, etc., through the various programs available. It's actually almost overwhelming to look back and realize in many cases we were watching and hearing some of the very best in their fields...maybe ever!!!!!

This is amazing! For those of you educated and childish people poking fun, saying the puppeteer should be fired, or saying intellectually thrilling things like “this is stupid”, then, clearly, this form of art and entertainment wasn’t designed for you. As for the comment that adults shouldn’t be laughing at the marionette, let me inform you that the use of marionettes for entertainment (of all groups) goes back to around 2,000 years BC. Go get yourself an education. This is talent at its finest.

What I like best is that it’s Liberace on solo piano. There’s so much video available on this great musician/entertainer but even in his early b&w days he almost always plays with accompaniment. Nothing wrong with that but nice to hear him alone also.

I watched this special on TV with my family in 1978...and adopted the name "Toto" as my clown name as I had taken a clown class not long before I saw this. Clowning turned into my career...and as of now in 2018 I am celebrating my 33rd year as a full time clown. There are folks in this world who have never called me anything but "Toto"...

3:30 -- I wonder how many people back then got the significance of the music there, and how many would get it today. Hint: It's "Vesti la giubba" from the opera 'Pagliacci.'
@christopherhogan-np3xb Жыл бұрын
I think the people knew the music..or at least heard it before..but today??you are right.. The opera scene is where Pagliaci is putting on his make up and probably considering the fate of himself knowing his wife is betraying him
