Had I been at that university I would have attended the black section, claimed to "identify" as a black woman to anyone who tried to remove me. I would have set my phone to record the entire day's conversations and had anyone from the university faculty tried to remove me I'd sue the shit out of them all. Being America I'd likely make crazy amounts of money, but even if I got nothing from it and just fucked over the university I'd be delighted to spend hundreds of hours in legal prep for the case. Hell, even if the faculty didn't say anything I'd look at sueing them for recklessly providing an atmosphere in which that was likely to happen. Ain't nobody got time for segregation.

"A liberal arts college is a college with an emphasis on undergraduate study in the liberal arts and sciences. A liberal arts college aims to impart a broad general knowledge and develop general intellectual capacities, in contrast to a professional, vocational, or technical curriculum."

Natalia D True, but let's say you were 1/4th white, 1/8th black, 1/8th Hispanic, and so on? If you were so mixed that you can't really pin your ethnicity down to a simple and easy word or phase. Would it then be appropriate to "identify" as one of the factors that make up your heritage that you particularly feel best describes you based on appearance or it's larger presence in your genetic makeup? Like for instance, I'm a mut, I've got some Italian, some Filipino, some hawaiian, and many many more, would it be acceptable for me to consider myself more hawaiian or Filipino because I look more like that than I do Italian or Irish? I think that these grey areas make something like identifying as one race or another a bit less nonsensical, but in reality the people there were probably just talking about that trans-race bullshit so I guess it doesn't really matter.

White supremacy isn't saying "White power", it's the way that all people raised in a racist society subliminally hold racist biases. You, me, everyone has a responsibility to confront these biases. If you punched someone, saying "at least I'm not a murderer" isn't a defense that would fly in court, and ignoring less blatant racism doesn't make it go away.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING! You put all of them together in a room/in the yard, have the discussion on white peoples' experiences with racism where people of color can't contribute, then vise versa. And after they've had a chance to share their different perspectives, they mingle inter-racially and exchange opinions. I didn't learn about the world by being crammed into a room with people who thought and talked and looked like I did. I experienced different viewpoints and talked about our varying perspectives.

@Johnny well I'm "semigrating" - what many South Africans have started calling moving from the northern region of Johannesburg, Gauteng (run by corrupt ANC thugs) down to Cape Town (run by the significantly less corrupt DA). The DA has its problems no doubt, mostly centered around a few figures who'd do better to just stay off Twitter. That said, it's well known that service delivery, public safety and general cohesion within society is much better in areas run by the DA as opposed to the new ANC who would make Nelson Mandela turn in his grave. The real problems in South Africa stem from poverty, not race (obviously) but what is happening is that all the white (bad proxy for wealthy) people are moving as far away from the black (bad proxy for poor) people as they can, creating a new unofficial apartheid caused by 26 years of corruption scandals and downright criminality that has marked ANC rule. For the past few years, more black people have emigrated to better run countries than white people. It used to be called the "white flight", now its just the "brain drain" - people with skills emigrate because they can. For every skilled person coming to SA, eight skilled people are leaving - most of which are black. Again, this hasn't been about race for years. Anyone with money stays around other people with money in gated communities or emirates while poor people with little to no opportunity are at the mercy of violent crime, poor service delivery and other misfortunes allowed by the corrupt government. I was fortunate to have finished my MSc in Computer Science, I got a good job, saved some money and I'm now getting the hell out of Johannesburg. 30 years ago it was a white man sitting on the back of the black man. It was wrong. Now it's a black man sitting on the back of black people and they called it progress while poverty is worse than in 1993.

@@saintburnsy2468 well it certainly got better for me after moving from Johannesburg to Cape Town. So the semigrating thing is real, it's way better even if it's not perfect. I don't know if the Western Cape province could gain independence but I see why that would be attractive. It's strange seeing my peers in my industry earning 3-5 times as much in Germany and Holland with better benefits and similar tax and living costs. The choice to stay here certainly is an emotional one because every logical reason screams to get out. I think it might still get worse before it get any better.

I'm an Evergreen student who had this guy, Tom Womeldorf, as a professor - while he was a perfectly capable economics teacher, this was nowhere near the cringiest thing he ever said on this topic. The day of absence was supposedly optional, yet he mandated it for credit for our class. If you could have only seen and heard the ideological, sensationalist, rhetorical ass-garbarge they actually taught us at the "white" meeting you would be too busy vomiting all over yourself to stand up and walk out like I did. This shit is out of control and is only serving to deeply entrench our youth in racist thought and policy, and breeds resentment and dishonest claims of injustice alongside rampant attribution bias. If there isn't an invisible policy forcing these people at my school to push this against their will, I have to conclude that all leftists have a disease that makes them incapable of personal responsibility for what they say and do.

Thing is for this campus in particular, day of absence was supposed to be (and has been since the beginning), a reference to a play in which the entirety of the black community just vanished and the community stopped functioning. It is supposed to be an homage to that. So as soon as they reverse it, it means nothing.

In the past I often hired young 4yr college grads for my tech company, & I have seen a significant decrease in competency over the last few years from this group. I have now stopped hiring college grads for the most part. The kids fresh from vocational schools are more focused on work, and often have more practical knowledge and abilities. I see why now, watching this video.

It's really telling when all of the representatives for an event seem to struggle for words when asked to describe their personal aims, or the aims of the institution responsible for organizing said event... It's almost as if they are on the fringes of self-awareness, but they have to make a special effort to beat back that impulse in order to promote a choice narrative...

As someone who goes to this school, i can tell you this place is out of control with racial tension that started on a facebook page between two people that spiraled out of control to a school wide race war, with confrontations with police and admins as well as the president of the school
