Librarians are facing scrutiny across the nation and in New Jersey as they face rising numbers of book challenges and bans. Martha Hickson, librarian at North Hunterdon High School, is at the center of this controversy. Hickson has faced attacks online and fears retribution from groups that oppose specific books available in the library which focus mostly on LGBTQ+ content.
