Yep, this is THE lesson. Accurate and that’s how I like to learn a song.
@HaxellMence11 жыл бұрын
He has to play it like that 'cause this is from a lesson's DVD in which all of the performances have to be crystal clear and clean. I AGREE that there isn't a lof of "emotion" here, for sure, but for educational purposes it's better just to do it that way, so that there isn't any room for sloppyness or mistakes.

This is a clinical version of Priest, sure, but Gil is smooth and his performance is not that mechanical cuz he's such a smooth player

I can only assume that you appreciate this tune as much as I do, to take the time to learn it so perfectly and then create this video and share it with others so that we too can enjoy playing it. Thank you :O) Sad Wings of Destiny changed my life. It comforted me during a time when... I can't even imagine who I might be without that beautiful music playing in my head. Again- Thank you.

Danny Gill is the man. I have this DVD. He explains the subtle differences between the original studio recording and unleashed. His transcription is a nice balance between the both. Most of the main riffs are more Unleashed sounding. The solos are more true to the studio recording. He nails it either way. All the knuckleheads in the comments saying... He's did this wrong or didn't play this right. I've seen Glen play it like this or KK play it like that. Watch every live version of Priest play this song. They never play it the same way themselves. Again Danny nailed it here. It's the best transcribed version I have ever seen. Which is the case in all of Danny's lessons. I love KKs first solo on this song. Fuckin kicks ass

Excellent! A little hard for me to get used to someone using their pinky finger so much. Most guitarists under-utilize the pinky. This is one of my favorite songs in the history of metal.

playing the main riff wrong...he hammers down twice on the 9=7 power chord and that is not the case. clear as day in the original studio recording that the notes are unique ...the first chords struck after the dual intro is an open A & D string with a hammer on bar 7th fret A and D. Other than that, it's perfect!!

Well I don't like to discriminate a professional musician because he or she improvise a note, bend, o use de 3rd finger to hammer a note when the 2nd finger would be the correctly one. Man, everyone has your own style to play a song. I know he is selling the material to a student, must teach the original, in this case I agree with you, but you sound like a teacher, probably that is the point of your comment over a great musician and teacher. I see negative comments like yours everywhere but never see one post a video playing better or showing the correction, right!

Great vid, but the part in the main riff where the key changes from E to A was played wrong. Loved the improvised solo at K.K's section, kept the overall feel of the solo, but showed some originality. Keep songs like this alive man, especially since Priest won't be touring after their Epitaph tour.
@leighstaton74456 жыл бұрын
Uhmmm...ok, Unless you "critics" are Glenn or KK, we don't need to hear your opinion of what is right or wrong! This is a brilliant job on this song. I graduated from GIT with Danny, and he was top 2-3 of the entire class. He's an AMAZING player, I have watched countless how to videos here, and I know with confidence his ear, feel, and chops always faithfully execute any of the songs he demonstrates as well as anyone! I have also seen him play things on guitar that make this stuff look like child's play, and I'm a HUGE Priest fan!! So no disrespect. My guess is all of you heroes in wait are looking for covers of someone doing covers, so you can play better" note for note" covers?? NEWSFLASH... So what!!! nobody is ever going to do a better job copying any song than the original person did who actually WROTE it, Instead of sniping about what he did, or didn't do "note for note" (right or wrong in your OPINION), why don't YOU get on here and do a video of how it's done yourself ??? That's what I thought... this is why I really don't like "I'm a better critic than player" guitarists, and they outnumber the great ones 10,000 to 1. If any of you have your own video of Glenn/KK showing you the parts themselves to back up your theories, I will humbly stand corrected... until then, SHUT IT!!! What you hear is what YOU hear. It makes you no more right or wrong, but unless you have definitive proof that you know more than the example you are criticizing and can demonstrate it better, you're jacking off with the wind in your face, looking like the prick that always gives guitar players a bad rap, and just plain looking foolish!! Please get over yourselves.

I liked hericane alice, but I(and many others) didnt care for their singer bruce.he had a BIG ego! He even peeled out in front of the car we were in at a gas station in the wintertime cuz I guess we didnt move out of his way quick enough...lol Bruce"s Prior band "Employer" were a Kick ass hard rock band.That was the eary-mid 80"s just as the Metal movement was Exploding". They had cool tunes. Axe to Grind" was one of them..Hericane alice had a hit with "Wild young and crazy"(video)continu..
