I'm not a geologist, but I just love this stuff.

At 6:00, if that were my property, I think I'd have second thoughts about where my house was built after seeing the LIDAR image. lol

I’d buy a book of the volcanic features in oregon done with LiDar. 😊🏆

Nice to see outlying areas being mapped out by Lidar. Oringinallity Oregon (and other states) were rather sparse due to most imaging being in populated/landslide areas. That was just a few years back it seems! Good news for hikers, geologists, prospectors etc.

The Magone lake landslide was an intentional blasting to block off the valley and create the lake.

Mima mounds in this imagery appear distinctly fluvial. (48:46)

Think about how much terrain detail we must have from Iraq / Kuwait. 😮

Where does he say has the free lidar files to download?

12:59 lava butte doesn't have a hole in the middle though. I graduated high school in bend. We watch the fireworks every year off the butte and walk/drive all the way up. Hole in the ground is in the backyard of a place I worked. I took my metal detector to the btm and was digging up rocks. Beautiful place.

Lava Butte, south of Bend along US97, does have a hole in the top IIRC with some trees inside. Pilot Butte (in the center of Bend) does not have a crater at the top

@@Mars-qh2tz shiiii.. you are right. I mixed up the 2 lol!!! Have you seen the fireworks though? I remember the first year. They lit up the butte more than the sky! We looked forward to those spot fires. Until they added the sprinklers.

@@user-zc8mk7mm7w I haven't seen them but I'd love to. I was on top of Pilot Butte one time and my gf's waist-length hair stood up on end like a Troll doll. THAT was scary, we got right in the car. Lol

I swear it's properly called ' Big sky country ' the way the sky looks like it comes down to eye level and up it goes! The high plains and inton the Southwest is just beautiful land! How're the winters tho?

Lots of interesting information. Apparently he is using a pointer to highlight features during the speech and these are not shown, so one has to guess what features he is talking about. Also, the audio is not the best.

Super cool to be able to peer through all that bio-junk covering everything around here. 😅

As much as I’d like to watch this video, it is impossible to follow the narrative . . . Why? Because the pointer and/or cursor is INVISIBLE! Something you might want to think about next time.
