Jim at Lido mounts sent me a double microphone mount that has the clamp like yours for my FTM-400/FT-891 setup. I was able to utilize the factory Yaesu head mounts by trimming some metal from the HF head mount so I could access the top buttons on my FT-891. I might get the head mounts like you have though and change it up a bit. Yaesu needed to do a redesign on their radios to get the microphone jack into the head like the ICOM IC- 7100. At least the audio jack is in the FT-891 head. Likewise ICOM doesn’t need to be stingy and include the radio body bracket with their radios.

My mobile VHF is a Yeasu. The head mount was a pain in the @$$ with the threaded screw being blind from the driver's seat. Boom, Walmart for decent Velcro. Easy on and easy off. 73, KF0NNQ.

I looked at the Lido stuff for my FTM-500 but I ended up just buying the clone of the YSK-7800 bracket that's available from many sources. It doesn't stick out as far from the base as the Lido ball mount does, which I needed because the head itself sticks out so far. The genuine article bracket was for the FT-7800 and FT-7900 and it snaps on to the FTM-500 directly. I did test it and with some trimming it should work on the FTM-300 and FTM-200 as well. The YSK-7800 clone bracket has one real advantage, it's cheap enough that multiple can be used to allow the radio control head to be installed in several possible places, so if one is moving a radio from vehicle to vehicle or vehicle to house, or vehicle to travel trailer fairly inexpensively. Since the FTM-500 uses a speaker in the head and the handmic can plug into the head, it's just a matter of running an 8-pin cable with 8P8C plugs from the control head mounting position to the radio body mounting position.

I have one of the Lido gooseneck seat bolt mounts. Not a fan. It vibrates so much that I’ve had to put thread lock on the screws that secure the neck to the base; they keep shaking themselves loose. How’s the vibration on yours?

Because Yaesu hires the dumbest engineers in the world and they brainstorm the dumbest ways to design a radio. Worst ideas win. I wanted the 300 for a while but after owning it for a few weeks, I've shaken my head more times than I can count at the sheer stupidity of some of the things they did with this radio. But...they did put a mic input in the head. You wanna know what it is? It's the 20+ year old Mini USB connector on the head. You can use their USB camera mic there. So when you're driving down the road at 90MPH and you want to take a really low Rez pic and fumble through 20 different menus while driving to send it, you can. 🤦‍♂️ There's also another Mini USB on the body of the radio, and it comes with a cable too. Are either of these USB's for programming the radio? Nope. The one on the body is for firmware updates, which will most likely never happen. To program the radio you need to have a 10 pin din connector that plugs in the back. Or you can use the Micro SD card that is also on the head and how I programmed it. I can go on and on, but I'm going to make a video about all the stupid things instead.

The lido stuff looks cool and seems to work well except the pole that bolts to the seat. My old Ram mount pole was like that. Too shaky for my ocd and eyes while driving. If you ever looking for a rock solid alternative, Havis makes a laptop stand that has zero play. You could mount all the lido stuff to the Havis upright without the laptop holder. Might be able to get one suplus cheap since they are in every cop car and get tossed when they upgrade cars.
@hamradiotube
@hamradiotube 3 ай бұрын
It's actually pretty darn rock solid when driving. The only time you're going to get much movement is when you man handle the buttons the way I do. Movement has never been an issue.

Super rigid bar mount? Looks like it shakes around way to much as you demonstrated in this video
@hamradiotube
@hamradiotube 3 ай бұрын
It really doesn't shake around nearly as much as in the video. It's pretty solid. Keep in mind, it's only supported at the bottom so it's going to wobble a little bit, but when you're driving it hardly moves. Mashing the buttons like I do will make it wobble but other than that, it's pretty darn sturdy.

Hey 👋 can you please make a video discussing how many different repeater modes there are meaning digital and analog and so forth? I’m trying to buy different radios that will cover all the frequencies bands and I want to be on all the different repeaters modes as well. This is going to be a mobile set and a base station setup so I can operate all the different modes in the car and the house. If you have a email address I can send this topic in for a video topic that would be great 👍 Thank you. Love your channel.
