Operating cranes is one of the most satisfying jobs in the world. I have run cranes for the past twenty-six years and can truly say that once people get a job doing this, they will not want to do anything else except maybe rigging, which is equally important.

I have only operated a Tadano 25 ton RT twice when the drivers let me have a go (Asia). We were lifting concrete in a hopper and its very careful work in case the hopper swings out too far and takes the crane outside of its limit. And I drove one around the site on another day, first gear so low but when that second gear comes in the surge forward with the torque is like WoW unexpected. Overall its a job with constant danger and not for the faint hearted!

@xraylife You are absolutely correct there about the dangers that can occur unless the operator has been properly trained and schooled before there is time spent in the seat. One never learns too much and they should never think that they've got it under control, because thinking so can come back to haunt them in the end. I learn new things every single day and listen to reason when others try and tell me things that could lead to unsafe situations.

You should see the really big cranes! Mammoet has built some ring cranes taller than this one which can lift hundreds of tons. The technology has advanced tremendously over the last 40 years. The use of counterweights is now standard, and luffing jibs are seen everywhere.

Mammoet’s Ring cranes can lift in the thousands, not hundreds 😂 Unfortunately that was never seen here in my country
@Tedinoz

I would have thought that THIS crane was an example of advances in technology over the last 40 years. Yes, the Mammoet cranes are extraordinary but, if I recall, they are designed for use in VERY highly specialised circumstances. By comparison this crane is adaptable to many situations.
@SGHeavyVehicles
@SGHeavyVehicles 2 ай бұрын
@@Tedinoz It’s a very different kind of crane for a different purpose. It’s designed to be very mobile and versatile, but at that expense comes the lack of capacity compared with those heavy cranes.

The company I worked for has streamlined this process we pick and pin boom sections straight from the truck during assembly and use the outriggers to tilt the carrier and extend the crane boom to keep tip and the sections as close to the ground as possible , we can do in minutes what's taking these guys hours

Irgendwie habe ich das Gefühl, dass dieses Männer diesen Kranaufbau noch nicht allzuoft gemacht haben !!! Und ich habe auch noch nie gesehen, dass die Kontergewichte ungleichmäßig verteilt werden. Somehow I have the feeling that these men haven't done this crane construction too often !!! And I have never seen the counterweights distributed unevenly.
