Running over can be seen as more of a concept. Giving priority to the upper. In general if theres a double hit the person who hit the lower opening probably made a bad choice.
Series Info:
Due to social distancing I'm going to make a series going through the verses of the Zettel for my students to use as a reference. The Zettel is the series of cryptic verses written by Johannes Liechtenauer to his students(1400s). It would become the foundation of the German combat system lasting over 200 years.
In my opinion the Zettel and the treatises from it are a series of advanced techniques written for people who can already fight with a sword. Therefore these videos as well are not made to be an in depth trainer for beginners but just going through the idea behind each verse.
These are my interpretation at the moment but as we develop, grow and learn, ideas can change. Feel free to disagree with me and try out other interpretations. My goal is to make very short and precise videos for one or two verses. Because of this there will be lots of information and details that don't make the cut.

Strikes coming from the upper parts are also stronger than the lower ones so your opponent can't parry even if he tries to.

I don't see a ton of great throws from hema guys, sadly. We need more ringen training integrated overall. That said, I was actually quite impressed by that arm throw at the end. Well done haha

I do completely agree, if someone grabs my sword my default is drop it and two handed throw. I do understand why some clubs I've been to don't allow it in general sparring and tournament. Blade combat is less strength on strength than pure wrestling so people with old injuries, older individuals, and people with bad joints can still practice and compete. But if you still have a functional body and are serious about HEMA its important to be a well rounded fighter and practice all aspects. You are the weapon, what's in your hand is a tool.
