Meet Sara. She's from Spain and has been living in India for 8 years. Together with her husband, a former street boy, they founded a cafe in Mumbai run only by former street children. During our chat, Sara shared her initial prejudices about India before arriving there, discussed why Europe lacks a strong sense of family compared to India, and explained how the lives of street children are transformed through their cafe. Enjoy!

Sir, I do think a lot of inferiority complexes have been created in the minds of us Indians, but that is not because of us being colonized by the British. It's because over the last 75 years, western media has portrayed us as poor and not being as organised as them. There is some truth to it, but I hope that in the upcoming years we start to work on hygiene around us and stop being overly proud of every other achievement we make and stop being complacent. Then only we will be able to not look for validation from foreigners. Just being 1000 years old is not enough, we need to keep on improving and we need to work on the social wellbeing of our society especially in north and big cities.

People Chamge when they see development around them. Many Kashmiris were against India just a few years back, But now they feel the development going around them and have faith in the administration. Having rigid opinions is wrong. Also regarding Kashmiri Pandits resettlement, That is not her job to ask for. Govt of India should take those initiatives. Also Kashmiri Pandits have well integrated with the Rest of The Country, So many might just not want to come back too. @@varadharaj.k.subramanium

Kashmir belong to Kashmiri people not to the invented country of endia ,there has never been a country called endia before 1947 for the whole history of mankind ,endia in the past is what Europeans called the cultural entity of South Asia ,but that wasn't a country but a cultural entity with lots of countries of different nations languages, ethnicities and religions, yes Kashmir was and is part of the cultural entity of endia but it isn't part of the political entity of endia which has been created by the British ,all nations that seek independence from endia should get it ,endia doesn't have the right to keep in its internal empire countries that do not want to be part of that empire...

In Barcelona on work I was lost and asked directions from a policeman. He listened to me and didn't say anything. "Do you understand English? Do you know where I want to go?" I asked. "Yes, I do. But I won't tell you because that is not my job!" he replied I was shocked, said "Sorry and walked away." That would never happen in India. Maybe that was one cop having a bad day. But that's true too.

@TheSujanroy, thanks for sharing. I witnessed a similar situation with a person in Germany a long time ago. While my friend (an Indian who speaks German) and I were on our way home, a lady approached us anxiously, asking for directions. She told my friend that everyone she approached on the street ignored her and walked away. People would have walked her to this place if it were in India. It dawned on me that if a German citizen could experience this while residing in Germany, just think of the situation that would arise for a person of colour or non-EU national living in Germany (or any other EU nation).

Wanting to help and watch other ppl smile at ur help is something everyone craves for in India. It is a cultural thing. Also spiritually, if u dont know what direction to move in life.... Being a Keralite, have heard such similar stories abroad. Faced by Malayalees themselves ,irrespective of religion. Even some of my North Indian friends have similar complaints about people from their own states as well It might also be that particular company's culture that might have caused it. And I have met many keralites and Indians who have been super sweet and helpful. So yeah both sides of the coin exists everywhere. Just try to be kind regardless. That's the only thing that matters, people kinda forget about it , while handling the daily stresses of life. Not realising that others too are going through the same grind.

If a foreigner says there is a lot of corruption, a lot of dirtiness, way below par infrastructure, hard life, chaotic ways, inefficient governance, bad roads, poor water supply, dangerous levels of road accidents, too much backwardness, corrupt justice systems, police etc - then they would not be wrong. I am pretty sure these foreigners living in India have learnt to tolerate lack of basic issues that citizens expect in any country. Or they are exposed to the barely 10% of systems that work in India. So, let’s be candid. These videos are not reflective of 90% of India.
