loose is my favorite and the one I struggle with most as a beginner. Painting along with you and it occurred to me..are you using 3 brushes at a time? Since colors are alternating, I found I kept rinsing each time for a new color and found I was getting too much water after rinsing each color....then, I thought...she's genius...if she has 3 brushes loaded with the 3 main colors to switch back and forth.

Painting loose can be a little tricky sometimes, it might just take a bit of practice to get the hang of. Although I have used multiple brushes for other projects in the past, I didn’t actually use three brushes with this piece. Something I did do though to help with not getting too much water, is I didn’t rinse out the brush in between each color every time. Sometimes I just dipped it right from one color to the next and let them blend. However, 3 brushes may not be a bad idea to try out! It may be a good solution for you. 😊 (Also if I did rinse my brush between colors I would dab and dry it off a little bit on a paper towel to get rid of some of the excess water.) Very colourful, Liesl and fairly simple too. It's a great idea to make greeting cards from this painting. I've been working on a quite detailed landscape so something loose like this will make a nice change. Great to see your husband having a go too. Your new brushes look to be very good. 🥰

Yes, I know what you mean, and I completely agree. It’s nice to do fancy more detailed work that gives off a “wow” factor, but sometimes if enjoyable to do something more relaxing and just paint for the sake of painting without the pressure of having it be perfect. 🥰 I was pretty proud of my husband! So beautiful and looks so easy when you do it. Your husband did quite well indeed, will need to try. These look just like gladioli but with different greenery, which is fine, you have the artistic freedom to do what you want. I bet these wispy leaves look much better than a single thick stalk.

It may take a bit of practice to get the hang of, but I think you can do it though, and in the end the practice is worth it because it is so much fun to do! 🥰 I didn’t have a particular flower in mind when I painted this, but you’re right, it does resemble a gladioli a little bit. lol I can’t even draw stick people good. lol 😂 I probably could try this and it won’t turn out! I always wanted to do art! My baby brother can draw every thing he sees or imagines. He painted one of of my dad’s air forces pics. If I could share I’d show you. And my other sister and brother can also draw. This gene comes from my dad and apparently that gene skipped me right on by! lol

😅 Well, they say some people are blessed with natural artistic talent, and some have to work for it! I’m sorry you feel like you’re the latter. I hope you won’t give up art altogether though, you might just need to find your niche! 😉 You should give this painting a go anyway, even if it’s just for the fun of trying! I couldn't grasp this technique. It was just blobs. I am trying to learn different flower techniques . Just can't get flowers? You are so good at teaching, but I may not be able to paint flowers. Thank you for your videos.

Hang in there Sherrie! I’m sorry to hear this technique was difficult for you. Watercolor flowers can definitely take some practice to get the hang of, but don’t give up quite yet, I still think you can do it. 🥰 I myself find that painting loose flowers are more difficult, it might help to try painting flowers using an outline drawing. A good majority of the tutorials I make, I also create outlines to go with them to use for the painting. I find I do better this way because then all I have to focus on is getting the paint in the right places! 😉 Maybe you could give that a try before you give up on flowers altogether. It may change depending on the device you’re watching on, but if you’re using a phone, just tap on the screen and you’ll see a sort of tool bar along the top of the screen. Look for a box with the letters cc in it, (this stands for closed captions) just click on the cc box and it should turn it off. Hope this helps! Have a great day.
