You boys are legends. You have to find a new address for every drop. People are never in, their neighbours won't take in parcels. Cameras, bus lanes, rush hour traffic, trying to find somewhere to park, possibility of having your parcels/van nicked. Rain, snow, unlit roads .. the hazards are never-ending. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

I always get mine delivered to the amazon hub purely because I know the hassle it causes amazon drivers when im not in. Takes me 4 minutes to drive up to the hub. Now that i think of it maybe that not ideal as less parcel for amazon driver (less targets, commision etc?

Agree totally, I've done delivery driving in the past where I'd cover over 150 miles per day doing 20 drops, that seems nothing compared to this however it's tiring just driving out on the roads and running into traffic where you lose so much time....not sure what's more stressful but these vast amounts of drops seems pretty overwhelming to me...the money is good, but how many hours are they working a week? Do the maths and they're probably on well less than £15 an hour..
@jasonclarke7422
@jasonclarke7422 2 жыл бұрын
@@barrywilliams4866 I have worked in care for nearly 30 years supporting people with mental health issues, like most jobs it has become tougher over the years with extra work and responsibilities being given to staff by these new types of micro managers that really do not have a clue about the job as they have spent their lives sat in an office, without any real experience of doing the job itself, but I think I would still be better off working a 13 hour shift doing this than working for Amazon. I do not think that I could keep up that pace at my age 🤣

@@jasonclarke7422 Both very stressful jobs, I'm not sure what breaking point is, lets keep getting people to do more and more, you can see why people go sick after a while, these days I'd sooner have less money but more free time to actually do things I enjoy, that actually cost very little as it happens....but with a lot of jobs that's hard to find, you have little choice sometimes, but this multi drop delivery job is bloody tough from all angles, the only positive is that when you're in that van you are your own boss and no two days are ever the same with many stories along the way....

"People feel sorry for themselves no matter where they work" - one of the most correct sayings I've ever heard. I used to hate working for my last company. I've moved, and things are a lot better here, but also reflecting on it, they did actually try to treat staff well, they brought in flexible working hours and the ability to work from home (7 years before the pandemic began and everyone was doing it), they gave you free breakfasts and fresh fruit, they gave you unlimited holidays and a bunch of other staff perks. We just knew we got paid a lot less than everyone else in the industry, and honestly I could have moved jobs sooner, so really it's on me for not doing so. Good days were a plenty with my team, way more than the bad days

Some people don't have that luxury. Not everyone can "just move jobs". Sometimes it takes training to move to a different industry and sometimes people might not have the cash to retrain. Just because YOU managed to change jobs and improve your situation, doesn't mean we should stop advocating for better working conditions for everyone. Vote for left wing parties who fight for workers and not for corporations, and unionize. IWW (International Workers of the World) is a good place to start.
@04williamsl
@04williamsl 2 жыл бұрын
@@sukotu23 I'm not saying move industry. Usually where you live there's multiple companies you can go to. Therefore, a lot of the time you don't need to retrain or get additional education. Sure, advocate for better working conditions. I'm not saying not to do such a thing. What I'm saying is that if you're not happy at a place, but one that actually offers quite good conditions, you just don't fit in. Or the pay just isnt as good... then move if you're able to. Also, if you're worried about cash moving from one job to the next, you do know you can get money from the government for this, right?

I can imagine it gets repetitive, as it did when I worked in a sorting warehouse. Once I moved up to being a yard marshal and got to know the drivers at my warehouse, I only ever had 2 drivers recognise me on the road. But 99% of my problems as YM working with the drivers were caused by Amazon's computer systems, it's like they are designed to make a 5 minute job into 20, and ground as many vans as possible. Generally 99% of the drivers were lovely, the best part of my working day back then was dispatch since I got to chat to all the drivers individually, rather than being stuck in the back of a lorry with piles of pallets.

I think you guys do a fantastic job, including the guys in the distribution centres. Considering most deliveries are fulfilled next day, and some the SAME day, you don't get the credit that is due I feel. But I for one, as a prime member, appreciate what you all do. I only wish my regular driver was as cute as this guy. 😉 Well done guys.

What a fantastic and honest insight for delivery van drivers. The utmost respect. You looked shattered at the end of the day and no wonder. This is something that I have considered and did have a go via amazon, for a day. The positives. Love being out and about. Love driving. Customers were awsome. The negatives. 90 secs to make a delivery, if you go overtime and it builds up, you don't get paid for the late drops. Didn't have time for lunch. High multidrop is not a job for everyone, however, if it was not for my arthritis, I would have gone back, you have to be fit and patient. A lot less drops, distance driving and not as much emphasis on timed deliveries would suit me better.

I worked for Parcelforce for 3 years and also done Amazon Flex for 2. The work is great once you build up a routine, but really frustrating if you get a new route or unfamiliar with the area, I would allocate the parcels first drop being at the front of the van and the last at the back, I didn't care how much time it would take but it would save way much more time than going through once at each drop. Amazon seems like a lot more complicated with the OTP and asking for ID etc and the workload seems like quite a bit for all these new procedures I can imagine you do doing 9-11 hours, also when I did flex the routing wasn't very good it'll send you back and forth a lot which consumed even more time. Well played lad keep it up! 💯

This is a pretty honest account of a day in multi drop. Although I've not worked alongside this company, I spent a couple of years as a delivering supervisor for a SP alongside Y@d~l, running 10 vans. That's a lot of drops and I was working up to 20hrs a day. People do not realise how much work goes into getting their product to them, really. During the several lock downs, delivery drivers from the various companies shifted mountains of home ordered items and are never properly acknowledged for their services. Just slagged off. That is a highly 'Karen' oriented attitude imo. It's a tough job, you provide a cracking service to the community and anyone who begs to differ, has never tried to do it- to earn a living. Much respect. 🤘

@@ZacJonesKZfaq I really appreciate what delivery drivers do and always give the driver a big smile and always thank them. My son has is own van and is a delivery driver and is up pretty early to get to the depot to load up. Some amazon drivers have asked me to take in a parcel if my neighbour/ neighbours aren't at home to receive it. They put a note through their letterbox informing them that I,ve got it at my address. And I really like the fact that you can track how far away the driver is before he arrives at my address. Thousands of people should watch your video and appreciate all the hard work you do whilst they're sitting at home in a comfy chair waiting for their parcels.👍👏👏🙋‍♀️

I do this for Royal Mail. The workload is not as intense and the money is pretty good. But the fleet is in a shocking state, I once had to reload three times due to issues with the vans. I get all the parcels numbered according to route optimisation before I set off, to avoid hunting around in the back. The worst part is trying to find addresses once it gets dark, which can be a real pain in the arse, finally, I have been pleasantly surprised by the job satisfaction seeing parts of the area around my home town I didn't know existed and putting my feel up after the shift 😀

I'm an Amazon driver and am always taken a back by how terrible Royal Mail vehicles are. Ancient vans, faded paint, MOSS growing on the side door rails, seriously? I don't know of any other company which doesn't see new vans as a worthwile investment, especially one with such a long history and right to use "Royal" in the name. This is in London too so these old vans are costing the company £12.50 a day each in the ULEZ fee as they are always 10-15 years old.
