Annabell A Usher, the performer.. His 11 yo son was killed there. I think he was tubing, and he was struck from behind by someone who lost control of the jet ski. He was on life support but he was brain dead. There was nothing else Dr's could do.

I lived in Georgia my whole life and currently live in the state. I never heard of anybody who got sick swimming in the lake. The only thing I know is that a couple of people drowned in the lake. Usher's son and some other guy. That's all I know. I tried to Google your comment about people getting sick and there's no confirmation about your comment.

@Myoung Woon Kim yes. Spirituality but more the fact of so much is under it. The islands are mountain tops. You know how your ears "pop"? The suction, gravity, pulls. It is very easy to one step be walking, and the next be struggling. The suction is hard to fight. I personally never get in without a life vest.

Myoung Woon Kim, Thank You for your reply‼️ The Lake is monitored and tested daily by several agencies‼️ The Department of Natural Resources, Corp Of Engineers, Chattahoochee River Keepers as well as ALL Local County & Municipalities surrounding the lake‼️ They monitor Businesses that are located on Tributaries flowing in to the lake‼️ There have been times that Local Government water treatment plants have had spills due to valves broken or clogs‼️ Quick responses have corrected the spills but Government Fines are strictly enforced‼️ Drought conditions that result in low natural flow tend to create algae in coves but they are minuscule because the boat traffic churning the water‼️ Rarely that has happened and the officials issue warnings! In 65 years, I have never been effected by ANY Bacterial contamination‼️ I have spent Thousands of Hours on the lake and NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS‼️

Lake Lanier is an extremely dirty lake and is extremely dangerous people die almost every week because of how busy it is. Counties surrounding it are prominently the 1%. At least thats my experience living in forsyth county

Texas 1, Please don’t listen to these trolls‼️ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, The Chattahoochee River Keepers, The Lake Lanier Home Owners Association, Gainesville Parks & Recreation, Hall County Leisure Services and surrounding County/City Governments, Lake Lanier Islands Association, State of Georgia Department of Natural Resources, All surrounding Water Departments, 1996 Olympic Lanier Canoe and Kayaking Club & Association; All have,and are Diligent, a Vested Interest in keeping the lake Clean and Safe‼️ Tests are conducted biweekly and during these extreme temperatures, weekly‼️ Canadian Geese are the biggest problem but DNR has them controlled by allowing certain hunting times and places- mainly Islands or undeveloped areas‼️ The Norton Agency, Real Estate & Insurance, Frank Norton, President and CEO, are the largest firm in North GEORGIA that handles lake homes and property. There are many others that represent Lake Homes, buyers & sellers. Biggest issue of owning Lake Property is Dock Permits from the Corps. There is a moratorium temporarily on Permits due to Docks at peak capacity but most property sold with a Dock Permit transfers to new owner but may have to be inspected and brought up to date if needed. A transfer fee may be included. As far as your price range- you aren’t going to find a good selection of larger homes on the water or undeveloped lots either. I am 65 and the Lake took a lot of my Grandparent’s land, though He was paid, it was pennies on the dollar given today’s prices‼️ Even in the mid 70’s, I could/should have bought 4 lots at$10k apiece; now, if anyone can find a lot, sells for hundreds of thousands of dollars, depending on location and deep water. I would recommend the North end of the lake. Prices more moderate, better schools, less lake & highway traffic and many more reasons because I have lived up here, Gainesville, for these many years so far. Gainesville is the “Queen City of The Mountains” and Poultry Captial of The World ‼️ We have All amenities of Atlanta but the pleasantness of a small town‼️ Cumming, Dawsonville, are on the Northwest side of the Lake and offer even smaller Home Town feel, however they are growing faster with people getting out of the crowded cities and into the suburbs! All connected by 4-lane (& some 6 lane) Interstates‼️ Dahlonega is not on the Lake but close to the start of The Appalachian Trail and site of The First Discovery and Gold Rush in America. Gold is still being mined on smaller scale today‼️ I am sorry for commenting so late‼️ I hope I didn’t wake YALL⁉️ Water is better on the North side‼️ Georgia Power Company has 7 Pristine Mountain Lakes that they own and operate. Lake Burton, Seed and Lake Raburn are the biggest but considerable smaller than Lanier. Coach Nick Saban, Head Coach of Univ of Alabama has a place on Burton along with Sandra Bullock but hers may be up for sale or already gone⁉️ The movie “A Walk In The Woods” with Robert Redford and Nick Noltie (I think) was filmed at start of Appalachian Trail, 10 miles west of Dahlonega and location of Georgia’s highest water fall, Amicalola Falls; will give you a Beautiful view of the NORTHEAST GEORGIA MOUNTAINS‼️ “...from Islands to Highlands, GEORGIA’s got it ALL” 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 ❤️🤍💙 🍑🍑🍑
