3 жыл бұрынI hope you enjoyed this life-changing Scar Vlog riding the amazing Not A Wheelchair "RIG" off-road wheelchair. We took the off-road wheelchair on super-speed runs up and down the street and up hills and into my backyard for the first time in 15 years. The RIG is an all-electric off-road wheelchair that can travel on rough backcountry trails and drive up to 12MPH on paved roads. The RIG was designed and built by Zack and his wife from "JerryRigEverything" KZfaq channel. A huge thank you to them for sending this generous gift to me! I've been in a wheelchair since I was 19 and I'm 70 now, 5 years ago I bought an electric chair and allowed me to do what I hadn't been able to do for a lot of years, so I totally understand how doing small things mean the most to those who are at a point where they have to be in a wheelchair to complete their daily lives. Congrats on the awesome chair I hope it brings you all the freedom you want.

Hey Scar, I know that this is like, a super late comment, but seeing you ride around in this wheelchair actually had me tearing up some. Because my dad was a permanent wheelchair user when I was growing up, and my mom is currently in a wheelchair, so seeing the way that people are designing new wheelchairs that give people their freedom back, just, gives me really good feelings. Makes me realize just how far we've come since the 90's when my dad and I used to run his wheelchair up and down the aisles in Kmart, laughing like maniacs the whole time, while my mom did her shopping and pretended to not know us.

I've watched this video... At least four times now (not in a row but every few months I come back) I'm fifteen and within the past few years I received some diagnosis for things that really changed my life. I'm a part time wheelchair user and probably the worst thing for me is imagining the things that I used to be able to do but can't anymore. This video made me cry the first time I saw it. There's still things I can do and this just shows that no matter what situation you're in there's ALWAYS something to appreciate. You just have to look. It's the little things that really matter. I may not be able to do some of the stuff I used to be able to do but I'm closer with my family and friends than I have ever been. I've learned how to speak up for myself and let people know when I need help. I love you guys. Keep going. Keep living. You can do so much. It's okay to ask for help. Helping each other is what makes a community stronger.

Just read your comment man, I almost cried, I was paralysed from the waist down from a rare disease named transverse myelitis due to going hard at a festival. I’m still struggling with my condition as my bladder hasn’t fully recovered, but my walking is much better. It has been pretty tragic on my mental health, but I have to say people with disabilities are the strongest people ik, and I’m so happy for you man :)

As explained by JerryRig it seems like if You're a wheelchair user with a proper disability diagnosis you can go anywhere with these things that you can with a wheelchair, at least in a broad legal sense. Until someone tries to take one into a public library and causes a court ruling.

This is just so wholesome omg. People walking by that bench probably don’t even notice it, and obviously don’t sit on it, but the sheer joy on your face and in your whole posture when you were sitting on it was just beautiful. I’ve got Autism, and accommodations mean everything. When there’s something that non-disabled people might think of as trivial but which is nearly impossible w a given disability, that then becomes accessible bc of accommodations - just the pure unrestrained joy, the exhilaration, that “oh my god I can do it. I can do this thing that I’ve been wanting to do for so long but haven’t been able to. This is the best day of my life!!”

I'm autistic as well. Most people flat out don't understand many of the issues we face. Especially sensory issues... social issues as well when you are verbal. They expect us to just learn how to communicate properly, but our brains just straight up cannot compute many aspects of social interactions.

Scar, as a parent of a child who had a neuromuscular disorder (DMD), the smile on your face and the pure joy you were having brought tears to my eyes, because I know how that made your father feel. Giving your son increased independence is the best feeling. That was my son when he got his electric wheelchair. He was a fan of yours. He sadly passed away June 29, 2019. Love your videos

That's so sad, being a teen i can't imagine myself dying from something like this, it's always fun and games until you realize there are people disabled and they simply can't use their legs. Just becoming one is horrifying to me. Disabled people are heores, because they don't give up easily and that's something we should learn from them. I'm sorry for your loss it must be depressing living through that, but keep your head up, and don't give up. I assume your son was a fighter on life and didn't gave up until the end. I'm not wanting to tell you how to live your life but learn from your son and appreciate little things in life.

I have never come across your KZfaq videos before but the algorithm decided to show me this video of yours. I was crying tears of joy because you could visit your backyard once again. You were able to go up the hill and sit in the park bench that nobody uses. These things that I can still do, seeing you do them for the first time in many years brought me this joy. We all need to put Scar's behaviour as our life style. We are hating the world every day, insisting how terrible it is. Yet this man, who cannot even freaking WALK, makes a paradise out of literally everything. We can all have good times with this world, because we're being treated with goodtimeswithscar. If the god took away legs from you, he gave you the biggest heart ever! God bless you Scar Edit: guys I'm just trying to be optimistic and motivate everyone to be happy. I swear, horrible things always happen to amazing people. Scar has been through so much, yet look at him. He’s one of the most positive people I know. It’s great to see him so genuinely happy, and it seems to be making everyone else happy too(including me)

It's almost a little bit overwhelming to see a person that has been disabled for so many years become so free and so happy because of technology and development. Also, credits to Zack and his wife that was as polite to send something they've done (it costs 5000$). This is something I think will change Scars life for a positive and that it's going to be a big leap forward for him to become more accessible to the world, nature and society.

My sister has been in a wheelchair her whole life. She rarely goes out anywhere and when she does, it's either the hospital for a doctor's visit, or school. So I understand what you're going through...a little bit... and seeing you getting all excited to move around and go outside and other places is really heartwarming. One day, I hope to see my sister as excited to do these things as you are. You're amazing and I love the content, but this definitely hit home for me

(Peepo plz upvote so scar sees) Hey Scar, I just watched Zack and Cambry's video on the Rig and there's a little latch on the bottom that lets you fully lower one of the control arms so you can easily get on and off the seat. It's at about 5 min 20 on their video titled, "This is 'Not a Wheelchair' - Introducing The Rig"

I think "Perseverance" would be a good name. This chair looks like the Mars rover and it allows Scar to explore uncharted new territories like the rover ! And it has a camera too !
