Well firing blanks isn’t nearly as loud as live ammunition, breaking the sound barrier is what makes the loud echoing crack that carries over distance. Blanks just kind of pop and are difficult to hear in a city even a couple hundred meters away, these were edited over with what tv shows think ammunition sounds like, as obviously for a show they use special props that fire special blanks that are even quieter so hearing protection isn’t necessary, which again is only really necessary with live supersonic ammo. Rant of irrelevant information for civilians over.

JANUARY 1ST, 2024 EDIT: On 18th December 2023 posmotri corrected me his comment is below this. gunfire has a higher fatality rate than being hit by a stray bullet with a relatively flat trajectory, because bullets from celebratory gunfire falls downwards and is more likely to hit you in the head (brain)

@@saber8156 I highly doubt that, the terminal velocity of a bullet falling straight down will be way too little to cause any serious damage. Celebratory gunfire is dangerous when people don't point straight up, but in an arch. Depending on how flat that arch is the bullet may come down with significant enough horizontal velocity to kill or injure. But if it's just falling down it will rarely cause significant damage

@@shawnbrower4062 Nope. Those muzzleflashes are CGI. Not at all what muzzleflashes look like, let alone handgun caliber muzzle flashes Edi: Oh, and btw, I forgot to mention. The ammunition used in that scene were blanks, meaning they don't produce muzzle flashes in the first place, meaning that, even if I were stupid enough to think they looked real, they couldn't be because those shots were blanks.
