Nice! I love it that you took the time and care to return the little frog to a place of comfort. Now he can swim and have access to the various insects that he likes. Now that is a true nature lover! You could have left him where he was at, and he would have survived, but you knew that he would be happier and would thrive better in his comfort zone.

In retrospect, looking at these older videos, I can see now that Nan was trying to protect Nora’s babies from her rough treatment. And as we saw, that treatment ended up causing the loss of babies.😔 Bless Nan’s heart, she really should have been the matriarch, she’s so gentle with babies. I also wanted to say that you are so kindhearted Arroz, even down to the poor lowly frog.❤️ Dopey, Dopey, Dopey, you have probably the sweetest mom around and you could be one of the brattiest babies. Isn’t that the case a lot of the time?🥴

Dopey looks huge! And Reddy looks filled out & robust, not skin & bones. Her face looks filled out too & younger. Like she's "refreshed". And she's right not to nurse Dopey, he's had a whole dairy farm's worth in his short life. Leave some for your future sibling.

Vickie Vandenberg I think he looks on the small side for his age. He's 9 or 10 months here. He looks like he's put on a bit more weight because he's foraging but I'm with you, he does not look huge... not to me... in my opinion.., and all that. LOL ;) Hopefully Arroz will "weigh in" on the subject. (Pun intended) Hahaha xxoo

I imagine Dopey whining & saying "But why Mom? I love it so. It's so warm when I can snuggle & suckle" And Reddy is combing his fur & saying "But it's time son. Time to grow up & not rely on me for your only source of food & liquid. It's our way son. You'll make it"

I've often wondered if the "clumsy" babies (Baty, Dopey, Cessa) weren't born a couple of weeks premature. With a normal gestation period of only 5 months, 2 weeks could make a big difference in how well they function in the first weeks after birth.

I watched the last two episodes where our lil princess was born and how Nan reacts to her . I think she's trying to convey to Nora to not be rough with her. It's so touching how she wants to love and cuddle that baby. I hope Nora will finally let her. What a loving, caring creature she is.

Well I'm glad there aren't 50 comments calling Cessa's mom a bitch again just because we didn't see the baby nursing in the few minutes she was on screen. I've seen Nora's behavior in lots of macaque moms -- they sit just a foot or two away from their babies to encourage them to learn to crawl/walk, but close enough that the babies don't feel freaked out. Then they back up just a little bit more to encourage the baby to keep crawling toward them. Now I see in the video Arroz is saying the same thing...and yeah, it does look like Nan is sort of bungling Nora's attempts at getting the baby to walk.
@charleshoward58497 жыл бұрын
No wonder the babies die so often that high up in the tree and he is not secure. If the baby quit holding mama at certain times that's a long ways to drop.
@GozerTheGozerian7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's life for them, unfortunately. That's why they spend the majority of their first three months of life clinging to their mothers, and it's why you see baby monkeys clinging to stuffed animals and rocking when they've been taken from their moms -- it's programmed into their DNA to hang on to mom's fur, especially when she's moving. The infant mortality rate is something like 30%, and fatal injuries from falling is probably the biggest cause of death.

Allie Bagz One thing I can say is we had been watching older videos of Our Gang here as Arroz had gotten caught in a back log. Dopey is not even a year yet in real time... his Birthday is in late August (I think). So if we're talking about a "mac attack", Dopey didn't have one that was expected. LOL He handled weaning very well. As far as little Sweet Pea is concerned, I'm with you as I feel 4 months old is way too young for a baby to be weaned. Each monkey is different just as humans are individuals & I think the Mum of both species know when their child should be weaned... in my opinion. LOL

Vickie Vandenberg I'm glad that we can't remember the process of being weened as it surely must be as traumatic as Dopey is making it appear. My younger brother by 14 months (who must have stolen mine, lol) even reminds me of Dopey, and our Mother has made comments that she had a far worse experience with him. The longer it goes on the harder it is. Still, I can't help feeling sorry for him! My brother that is, lol. Peace ✌🏽️.
@vickievandenberg46547 жыл бұрын
Dennis Harrison ++. Hi Dennis. Wow. I'd like to comment on your comment but there are too many parts missing; i.e., how old is your brother, does he have "special" issues, is he a substance abuser? I'm not sure what to say, I just know when I read your comment I felt extreme sadness come over me and I want to know more about your brother. As for the weaning process I do know that it's pretty much the same for baby monkeys as it is for humans. It's a terrible thing to go through no matter who or what you are. I find it heartbreaking to watch these babies being weaned. It's not funny, they aren't being spoiled brats, they are going through a form of withdrawal that they don't understand. That nipple is their lifeline to their mother. It's food, it's love, it's safety. At least that is how I look at it. Of course that is also my opinion. I'm sure there are lots of people out there that will totally disagree and that's okay, I'm not an expert on the subject. I always try to see the eyes of the baby monkey having his weaning fit, you can see the pain they are going through. I'm sure they must be feeling rejected from a mother that has always been there for them to fulfill those needs and all of a sudden the day comes when they can't have it anymore. You can see the misunderstanding in their little faces and by the way they throw such a tantrum! In Dopey's case, I feel that he loves to be a kid. He plays hard, he's a little imp having so much fun. That's why I made the comment. He should be called Peter Pan. Sadly though, that's not how it will be. I wonder if baby monkeys would like to use a pacifier? It might help. It did my little monkey when he was at the weaning stage of life. He actually lost it one day while I had him out in his stroller. He would NOT take a new one. It was that old, nasty, sucked to death pacifier he'd used forever and didn't want any other one. He got over it though and it's a good thing he did or he was headed to the adoption center!! Just kidding! Wow, it just hit me...I always wondered why he puts a bottle nipple on his beer! Ha! Again, just kidding. Well Dennis, thanks for the comment. I wish I knew more. All I can do is wish you, mom, and your brother well and hope life treats you good. Have a good day or night...I think it's late. ✌️

Vickie Vandenberg hi there. Where do I start. I feel really guilty for causing you any sadness, and equally grateful for the sincere concerns that you have shown towards our plight. Alas, I was only joking! I'm not sure where you are from, but I'm a Brit. I'm afraid, and I'm sure you are aware that we are well known for a certain type of humour. With regards to your other observations I agree it is obviously traumatic. The confusion as to why such an important and comforting part of their upbringing is coming to such an abrupt end is genuinely stressful and traumatic. Once again, sorry for the misunderstanding. Bless you x.

Dennis Harrison ++. Okay Dennis Harrison, where do I begin. I'm not sure so I am going to pause for a bit and think on what you wrote. So, if you don't hear from me for a few days, I'm just thinking. If you never hear from me again, then I guess I overthought it! By the way, I knew you were a Brit. Not sure how but I did. I think it's in the way you speak. Not sure! I am from New England. Does that make us kin? Ha ha. Just kidding. Born in Connecticut, moved to Rhode Island which I will always call home, spent time in New Hampshire, then went west to Arizona and now I'm in Utah, a place not worthy of my mention. New England is my favorite but I don't know if I will ever make it back there. Like Reddys now elusive nipple, I have to grow up and stay put!! At any rate, I will be in touch again to say hi or I will vanish to a place with the baby monkeys of HK. Take care... ✌️Dennis 💫

Most of the comments on these videos are inane, it's either people getting hysterical because a mom is too gentle, or people getting hysterical because the mom isn't gentle enough. They don't even stop to think we're only seeing a few minutes of these animals' lives, and everyone thinks they know better than the mothers. Thank God it's not like the Angkor channels, where people tell the cameramen to interfere with the animals' lives and the cameramen actually do it. I have deep respect for Arroz and how he doesn't interfere with the monkeys.

Nora needs to be fixed so she doesnt ever have kids again. Poor little baby!!! Nora was doing great trying to teach her baby how to walk but when nan gets in the way Nora just picks up her baby by its foot or arm and drags the baby across the ground sometimes. Or she will pick the baby up and drop the baby on the ground. Ugh!!! Most moms when trying to get their baby away from someone will pick up the baby from its middle and pull it close to their chest and move away. But not Nora. She just grabs ahold of an arm or leg and pulls her baby across the ground. Its like she is trying to make her baby hurry up and walk so it can start forging for itself and it will leave her alone. Anyways, i know that no one is perfect but it is not right to drag or drop your baby on the ground.

Dopey is too funny! All our darling Reddy has to do is see this baby to two years, it probably won't be long before a baby sister, (I hope), comes along for Dopey. I think it's wonderful that he is finally thriving, and to see him with muscle definition. Reddy is an exemplary mother, she is patient, loving, yet firm. She looks as if she would not tolerate any kidnappings, which if she has a girl, would increase the likelihood. I really hope babies aren't being kidnapped by humans, to have valuable female 'wild' born macaques to sell to people as 'pets'. It may sound harsh, but I would rather a baby monkey be a wild troop and die young through short term pain, versus long term suffering running around on two legs, shaved and wearing a dress
@shannonissweet80097 жыл бұрын
Dopey's finally starting to come to terms that the milk bar is only sessions verse whenever he wants it! Thank god! For his well being and not only teaching him to forage more during the day (he forages quite well actually but I believe and I may be wrong on this one but because the mums possibly nurse throughout the entire night off and on, she wants to teach him to only have a session or two during the day time so he's not so dependent on milk to keep him "full/content" throughout the day). On a funny note, he has no clue how well he has had it so far compared to many others..He got too suckle much more and often for a big baby compared to all of them except Mickey. If he only knew lol.. He has a wonderful mummy that's for sure! As it seems so cruel Dopey, your mummy loves you to pieces and teaching you to become a wonderful independent well behaved strong young man! Arroz's is right, you can make it! Lol.

I don't think I ever saw Reddy rough with Dopey, especially at such a young age......and I also notice Nora doesn't let her baby nurse near as much as Reddy did at that age......Dopey seemed to nurse ALL the time, especially at that age......Nora's baby doesn't seem to get as much sleep/rest either because she's always dragging her or taking off with her while she's barely hanging on.......most mothers hold onto their newborns with one arm while walking or running the first few weeks to give the baby a little extra support until they grow a little stronger and no longer need it, they can hang onto mom by themselves.......Nora doesn't seem to embrace motherhood like Reddy.......but I know Reddy is an exception to most mom's.....you can tell she loves Dopey unconditionally.......it's funny but right when you turned the film to Dopey I knew he wasn't happy right away, his expressions tell everything.......those big round eyes have such expression it's amazing.......Notice how Reddy will groom Dopey when he's upset......she's trying to comfort him and it does it work as he seems to calm down.......she always tries to make him feel better.....it's as if weaning him hurts her just as much as it does him......I've noticed when monkeys kidnap babies they will groom or bite their ears gently to calm them because they can nurse them.......Reddy is trying her best to wean him and comfort him at the same time and yes she does have an enormous amount of patience; more than I've ever seen with any other monkey mom.......it's so amazing to see this.......I thank you again for your time you devote to filing these amazing and beautiful souls.......

Nora isn't exactly novice. She was very loving towards her first baby, Vince last year and way too protective too ! I think she's just not quite adjusted to the fact that she's a mother again !

Is Nan the monkey that was called Nanny? You changed it to Nan because the other name ended with a "Y" & you're reserving "Y" endings to Bossys troop? If so, you could have renamed her to Nana or Nonna, which in Italian Nonna means grandmother. F.Y.I., Nonno means grandfather.

i swear, Dopey is sooo spoil! but i like him the most of the rest. Baty is okay, hes not as well.. bad as Dopey and cannot get away with what Dopey does most of the time and yes, you're right.. Eddie and Cesse does look alike, i can't barely tell them apart even though they are being recorded. I also would think Dopey would follows you since you are always around him.

Eddie and Cessa have at least different coat colour so they aren't too bad :)

Nora has an older baby from last year Vince who's thriving. Maybe she's just a bit under the weather there.

Vickie Vandenberg I have started watching these clips recently, but in no real order. I also find it strange, such difference in the scale of treatment that babies receive from their mothers. den

Dennis Harrison : Hi Den...some of the mothers are awesome; others I'd like to go pay them a visit and slap them upside their head and tell them to knock it off and be a good mum. Watch Reddy, Dopey's mum, she is one of the best!

Vickie Vandenberg Hi Vickie. The reason for the last few sporadic messages, and the den, harrison etc.....is that my email is in the last entries, if you take another look at my posts you will see. Clandestine, I know, but I didn't want to post it for all to see.

Im so excited to see what Dopey's reaction if ever Reddy is preggy and Dopey have lil brother or sister. As Batty feeling awkward towards his little brother... Reddy is a superv mom ever...
@jcastanza7 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's not funny to anyone but me but I laughed so hard at 9:15 actually 9:18 precisely when Reddy shoves him almost like "oh you can just get the f--k off if you're going to act like _that_!" Reddy is such a great mom. I think she does and always has known exactly what she's doing. I would love to see her have another baby. Haha Dopey, must be so hard for him when it's just dangling there right in front of him.

Nora does look like she's doing Walk Training! I know Nan lives babies, but she needs to let Nora work on that with little Cessa.

Arroz I agree with you wholeheartedly Reddy is just the greatest mother. she's steady, firm but kind and just so wise like she stood there on that Branch with Dopey on her back for a few minutes deciding whether to get down or what to do at that time it was like she was not sure of where to go.

As much as I complained about Dopey being spoiled I'm still not ready for him to be weaned he getting big now and he won't be a baby. I just need like 6 more months for to be our little baby boy.😥😥😥

Cessa really is a beautiful baby. I wish Nora would stop yanking her up and around by her tiny arm, though. My heart jumps every time she does it. As for Dopey, I'm so proud of him! He is just NOT throwing the Mac attacks we expected. Of course, he doesn't like it, but he is coming around. He's doing a great job, too. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a new sibling and proudly takes on the big brother role! That would be so cool! After all, Reddy has taught him what love is from day one!

Arroz, I'm not seeing it the way you do. I'm not there of course. But, to me, Nora sucks as a mom and isn't trying to get Cessa to walk, but rather to just stay off of Nora's teat. Nora puts her arm in the way of her teat and holds Cessa over her leg or on the ground. :( Nan, to me again, looks like she's trying to be protective of Cessa. But, I could be all wrong. That's how it seemed in the first video with Cessa too. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.
@kkossor30467 жыл бұрын
Sarah Marie When a Mom lays on the ground & looks at the baby straight in their face, only a few feet away, it's a pretty good chance they're doing Walk Training. Nora exhibited the classic position. (It also just happens to keep the baby off her teat LOL)
@sarahmarie13917 жыл бұрын
kkossor, you are most right about all of that. However, I was summing up all of her actions. I'm hoping Nora will learn kinder treatment from Nan. Thank you so much for your comment. I'm not used to anyone paying any attention to anything this old grandma says anymore. haha
@kkossor30467 жыл бұрын
Sarah Marie I too hope Nora will be more kind. She was very loving with her 1st so this "firm" treatment is surprising. I'm so sorry you've felt ignored. I'm sure it wasn't intentional. Arroz values everyone's opinion. I, myself, am very pleased to have met you. I'll keep my eyes open for you in future videos. :)

Imagine how weird it would be if human nipples were as big as monkey nipples. Even the males too. Lol. The “ it’s a bit nippy in here” comments wouldn’t really apply because everyone would have big long nipples.
