There's definitely no place like home, Owamboland. I went home and capture our way of living and how we preserve our heritage, as things slowly modernize. I show you our means of survival and also how we brew traditional beer.

I never used to be proud of being a village boy. I was always trying to look like a town person, even if we dont have a house in town. Your transition from the village life to your town persona is amazing. You inspire me to be proud of my village ways.

We don’t call that spinach but it’s commonly known as ‘nyevhe or rudhe’ in Zim which only grows during the rainy season when we plough or till the fields! I just adore the brilliant way you’re preserving our cultures & making the traditional fermented brew... only difference is it takes up to seven days for the brew to be imbibed in Zim..kudos to you , ey ..😜!

This really just shows that we are all from the same lineage and it’s always so fascinating to know of the many similarities we share as Africans, I love this. 7 days? Does it become alcoholic? I would love to travel to Zim one day but more on the rural sides. Oh and thank you 🙏🏾.

We have sorghum here in the Caribbean but we call it guinea corn flour and its already ground to flour, we use it as a main ingredient in a dish called jug jug or use it as porridge. I love some African cultures, here we see hard work which may seem slow to others but you see the end result which is amazing, the movement it makes you fit, is healthy and well done, slow food is healthy food plus no added chemicals to speed the process along and no pollution created or electricity needed just nature and man power, clean living no carbon footprint that's what I call working hand in hand with nature. I hate how some plastics was introduced to Africa because in the ancient days the ancestors never had plastics just use natural items to store they things in, which was much healthier ....never lose your ancient culture to western modern ways okay ? If an apocalypse happen (which unfortunately seem to be happening now for some reason) and all modern electricity and wifi and all that convenient stuff stopped working guess what many tribal cultures would not be affected because they know how to survive without those things.
@josephnakale7343
@josephnakale7343 7 ай бұрын
That's how I call real living,I for one though have a house in the city and spend most of my time in city still much connected to my village life interacting with undisturbed nature.Yes with development things are changing, electricity has arrived even in some of our villages on the other hand life became much easier while on the other some things are no longer thesame.Back in the days to plough the field we used plough and oxen,now we are using tractors,to move from one village to the next we used to ride horses,now we are using cars,to pound Mahangu for flowers we used motars and pistols now replaced by machines.Back then to preserve meat we had to dry it now that had replaced by the refrigerators,back then games were plentiful to hunt now all these are protected and now no more free meat,unless one have to slaughter a goat or probably a cow all these as good as it may sound also have negative effects to tye way of living we know not many years past.

A new subscriber here from Australia. Your village videos made me subscribe to you because I'd rather see what village life is like in other countries. I already live in a city so I'm not interested in that. I especially love it when the young educated go back during breaks to keep village life alive. You're the bridge between two worlds. As a Westerner, I'd rather watch videos about people's unique cultures, especially from the viewpoint of an educated local; because no clueless tourist or uneducated tour guide who's barely speaking English can convey and translate your life like someone like you who's well versed in both town and village life. Your life is a bridge between both. Bless you sister keep posting these village videos and I'll watch them.

Haibo! we're not ashamed of our culture, it's just that South Africa is very different compared to other African countries...it's more Western here everyone knows that. Just some thought on how to improve your audience's experience, I recommend that you add some of those Oshiwambo beats/drums or rhythms (in between your explanations) to complement the flow of your narration. It will complete the package. Looking forward to the next vlog.
