you can't pull the lever, because it will be a crime to kill someone, and another logic behind not pulling the liver is, let's take an example, when u go for a safari, at that time if a lion tries to hunt some other animal, at that time your not allowed to entrupt that hunt by anyway, means not by firing shoots or any other way, if you stop the hunter animal, then u are the responsible for the empty stomach of that animal. so think like that in that train vs children case

Well I did coaching from Vajiram and Ravi in 2019 and this same question was asked in our class of ethics and integrity by Brijendra sir. I am just gonna say that, you shouldnt pull the lever. You cannot punish a sensible and right person for the stupidity and wrongful actions of others. Also you dont have the authority to do that. You dont know what your actions may result in.

Also dormant route might defective so left dormant then it will create disaster for train passengers if u change the route. N children playing on active route conscious abt train coming on that route n will go away when train come to near n children playing on dormant route not so conscious bcz they knew train will never come on that route. So it will be not good decision to change the route of train in any circumstances.

The question deals with Bentham, John Rawls and Robert Nozick. It is not about the answer but the reason how solid it is to back your choice. Bentham under utilitarianism would pull the lever whereas Nozick would not since an individual has an intrinsic value and the right to life. Who am I to question or make a decision on behalf of that individual? Hence, two scenarios with two reasons.

These are my views on the situation: we can't pull the lever until we are sure that we will be able to save that one life because we can't decide someone else's fate and call it noble just to save those 10 lives but if we don't pull the lever we might get this feeling our whole life that we could have saved them somehow. So in this situation what we can do is either stop the train or pull the lever and try to save the one boy. Although there are a lot more variables to take into account maybe the track is damaged but considering that people on the train are safe at all cost we should pull if we have sufficient time to save the one boy

Weird qsn, If I pull the lever, I instantly become a murderer, not pulling kills 10 lives, but I stay innocent,which is better. What is the deal with Active vs Dormant rail tracks? Does a rail road being dormant means it is out of function? and is no longer used? In that case we shouldn't pull the lever, since the dormant railroad would've had no maintenance, and is risky for the train. Obviously the people travelling in the train deserve the highest amount of "protection" from fatal injury, and not the kids that are being careless and playing on rail-roads.

lever pull nahi karna chaiye kyuki abhi train seedhi jaa rhi h to driver ko distance se saamne wale 10 bache dikh jayenge to wo unko bachane ki koshish karega but agar lever pull kar diya to all of sudden driver k liye pura scene hei change ho jayega or yaha it's most likely wo 1 bache ko nahi bacha payega. so it's quite logic to not to pull lever.

The question really depends on various factors like age and criminal record or their status in public etc like these were the modification in that question which I have heard but if all is neutral and they are of the same age then the train should be directed towards the sole or alone kid like its a situation of life and de@th and knowing that there will be no actions on us like police case etc then I see this has the only doable option this is really a mind-bending question that tests the decision-making skills and like overall human character many ppl have different approaches this is UPSC question

according to Indian constitution, '1000 culprits can escape, but, one innocent person should not be punished'. so the boy who is alone should not get harmed because he is on right track, but another 10 boys are on wrong track where train is coming so it's their fault. so lever should not be pulled.

Mai lever nhi khichunga....kyuki Jo 10 bache khel rhe hai galti unki hai aur unke ghar walo ki hai jo lafarwahi se patri pe hai... Lekin dusra bacha janta hai ki train iss patri pe nhi ayega aur isiliye wo udhar tha...so uska to koi galti nhi tha

I will say not to pull the lever becaus the only child who is playing on the (track perpendicular to the train ) might be thinking that train will go straight but if you pull the lever it may led to an accident

We should not pull the lever as out of 10 anyone would say , "Run run train is coming" and there is less chance of accident but if lever will be pulled then there is high chance that the only child gets crushed..

Life of all the children can be saved!! One should pull the lever.... Since that person is closest to that one kid, and after pulling the lever there is high possibility that the person who is pulling the lever can run and save the child or at least ask him/her to get aside..... Which is not possible in the case where we don't pull the lever..... Coz then train will go on the track where 10 children are present reason is:- 1) shouting and asking them to get aside can lead chaos between them . 2) children are very far from the person who is present near the leve.

I think nahi khichna chahiye because ek baccha patri pr jo h uska koi mistake nahi h whereas baki 10 k h kyuki wo functional patri pr h.. Aur there is a saying ki bhale hi sau kasoorwar bhag jae but bekasoor ko saja nahi milni chahiye so following that analogy I answered

Bro in my opinion i will shout at 10 children and in the train there will be driver also. He can apply brakes or he can honk. If then also situation get worse then i will pull that liver which makes the train's path to the left not on the direction where single child is there ? I hope i justified the answer.

I think there is no answer, whether it's right to pull the lever or not it's for the history to decide whether I did the right thing or not maybe that one child could save the earth from a calamity or the one child is one of the 10 children.

Lever pull nhi karna because 10 bacho ko pta hoga ki train aa rhi hai. Par us ek bacha ko pta nhi hoga ki train uski traf aai gi ,so 10 bacha train ka aana sa phala haat jia ga 😎

Nahi mai lever nahi kheenchuga kyuki wo 10 bachhe glat jagah khel re hai unko pata hona chiye ye track active hai train ke gujarne ka time hai. wo bechara 1 bachhaa apna sai se koi bhi kaam karra hai ye jaan ke ki idhar koi train nai ayegi wo bhi befikar uska koi glati nahi hai he is innocent :))))

No huma lever nahi khina chaiya because agar train 10 bacho ki taraf gayagi to 10 ma sa koi ak bacha bhi dhick liya to vo chila ka bacho ko bacha laga
