Such a nice interview. You talk about success only after you have conqured over your failures as no failure is final and so are the successes. My dear friend I graduated from DMET, prior to MERI. the 88 batch. I also taught briefly at MERI. BUT a big but .... I never finished time for my tickets so never moved beyond 4rth Engineer. My total sail time was less than 12 months. But I don't see that as a failure. The greatest gift that Marine Engineering gave me was to gain a deeper and realistic self awareness. Very soon onboard I realized that I was a people person and so i needed to be near people. I had to move careers and industries to get to where I wanted to be. Your sense of empathy about a person who was injured was heart touching. In life the greatest challenges are often faced when you are solving people issues and may loosely be connected with your Technical domain. Now I will add the biggest pro of coming from the Engineering background. Even if i might sound biased. I think, you have far wider opportunities in various industries and functions as compared to the deck side. You will find it much easier to transition to shore based opportunities because of your technical and managerial skills. My 2 cents. Thanks for making the video. God bless.

Fabulous interview, thanks to the calibre of the interviewer and interviewee. Maturity, sincerity and balance shines through in CE Mehta's approach, way more than one would expect to see age-wise and job-experience wise. It is so clear that all the effort and hard work put in for every exam written; the strength to get up and try again, and again if needed is ingrained in both the CE and in the Capt. who interviewed him. Kudos to both of you.🙏👍🏼

Hi Mohd Adnan , onboard Ship I conduct regular prayers and I pray to Jesus , Waheguru ,Allah before I pray to Mata rani. I prefer saying JAI MATA DI to saying good morning and good afternoon . I thought saying JAI MATA DI gave me positivity and it started happening , similar to ALL IS WELL from 3 IDIOTS. Loving your religion is not bad but respecting other religions is more important. When as a team we pray together , we pray for well being of each and everyone on ship and at that time its a common God. When my EO is keeping Roza in Ramadan period , its my duty to keep enquiring of his well being especially in a hot and humid climate of Engine room. Similarly celebrating Easter and Christmas with my Phillipino crew mates , gives me happiness. Still , I really don't know if I am secular or not , that's for people working with me to tell. Keeping my fingers crossed. In the end would love to be known as a good human being, over my religious beliefs any day.
