We canned peaches, pickles, apricots, tomatoes, etc. as a family some 50 years ago. For peaches, my mom put the whole peach in boiling water for 30-40 seconds and then right into ice water. Most of the peach peel would slide off. As long as the peaches were cling-free it was an easy process but you ended up covered in peach juice. We did this outside to keep the mess and heat out of the house. Your video brought back fond memories. Thank you.

I heard the flute in the background…? Right? Your son did a beautiful job on the lathe….we have one and it’s truelly an artist that can make a fine piece from it. I would encourage him to make some to sell because instruments are a expressional way for children to learn and have fun…..on You Tube they have free lessons. Christmas is right around the corner and I’m sure he’d be able to make some extra money making and selling them….at his age boys need to have outlets for their energy…….my son was driving tractors and equipment at fifteen …..he now owns his own building, plumbing contracting company working with his son and step son….. I wish we lived closer to you because it sickens me that my husband works for a log home builder and the owner has the men throw all kinds of wood into the burn pile at each job site……..recently they threw doors, windows, skylights and lots of expensive tiles away…..it makes me mad that these are not donated to Habitat for Humanity…….which 5he build homes each years for the low income people of the area. 👏……my husband has worked in a metal forging company a few years back and they sold some beautiful creations and they made some rebuilds on historical bridges….in six months he retires and I’m hoping his physical health holds out for his talents to flourish building wooden, metal and creative structures to sell. I am a artist and I’ve painted murals, creative pottery and made clay sculptures for gardens……..hopefully we can survive on SS and our talents.😊

Wish I could find some good peaches just for eating fresh. The ones I buy from my grocery store this summer are hard as rocks. After a week of sitting on my counter, they finally ripen. However, they are so sour. I can hardly eat them. My grocery store gets them from South Carolina. My sister lives in Atlanta, and she said a large percentage of Georgia's peach orchards were devastated from a late spring frost. Glad your Grandmother is getting to visit with you this summer!!!!!

More flavor and not dry love the smell of cinnamon and spices. Yes to lemon juice. Our farm community building last of summer came together and BBQ and home cranked ice-cream. Made alot of different kinds vanilla, peach, grape from Welch. Best was black walnut. Your house smells great every day it seems. Blessing

Oh by the way perfectly good trees come from peach pips, just leave them in the soil to over winter and come spring they will shoot.
