The life cycle of insects from egg-or grub-to full grown is amazing to see!
The Saint Louis Zoo is home to one of only a handful of exhibits in North American zoos dedicated solely to the fascinating world of bugs and other invertebrates, which make up more than 95% of species in the animal kingdom.
Keepers at the Bayer Insectarium raise and care for thousands of these animals each year, but also take part in conservation field work releasing imperiled invertebrate species into the wild!
Insects featured in order:
🪲 Giant Prickly Stick (Extatosoma tiaratum)
🪲 Jungle Nymph (Heteropteryx dilatata)
