After spending a week with this Honda Accord Touring and time in several other Accord trim levels and years, I've got some things that I like and don't like! Overall, I feel like the 2021 Honda Accord is an excellent option for sedan buyers. It's very spacious, efficient, drives well, and has a nice amount of features. It may not be the best value for the features, but as a whole package, there's a lot to like.

What do you like or not like? Overall the Accord is still a very nice sedan and offers a lot! *For the road noise* - yes, tires make a difference, but my dB ratings with each vehicle are all with stock tires, same speed, road surface, wind conditions, etc. so changing to a different tire can help reduce road noise, but when Compared to competitors, it’s still louder than many of those unfortunately.

guess it depends. My 2017 accord lx is pretty quiet but that could be because its a CVT instead of auto tranny . still drives amazing

I have a 91 accord so I can confirm the at 31 years old it's still quite nice with the windows up but you do hear the wind and the tires (cheap Kenda tires)

I agree 100% with you in this video. However, for the price point and demographic, Honda knows buyer on a budget won’t care about the little things. They just want to press the button and go. They don’t care what engine is under the hoodie, they aren’t expecting quiet cabin. My mom is one of these people. She doesn’t know what engine is in her. It starts and drives comfortably lol.

90% of the people if you took a poll can't tell you if they have a 4 or 6 cylinder , what the horsepower is, not one thing about the mechanics. But they know about Apple car play or something with the display.

Road noise has a lot to do with the size and brand of tires. My 2011 Pilot came with Goodyear Wrangler 17” tires (EX-L trim 4WD), as they wore, they got really loud. I replaced them with Michelin LTX M/S tires. What a difference. Much quieter. So far my family has owned a total of (7) Accords since 1978. Loved every one of them.

Exactly. People should realize that cars in this price point will always compromise in tyre quality, you will never get high quality tyres on a new Honda, but you can buy much better tyres when the first ones go out. You don't need to be a robot and always buy OEM tyres like that's the best thing ever and than complain about road noise, which is actually a complaint against the tyres you bought :) Also, you should have summer and winter tyres, using all season tyres is just lazy, along with the compromise in performance and noise.

The road noise is a result of the Mitchelin all season tires. I changed my 19" ones for pirelli summer tires....what a difference! I have the 2021 Accord 2.0t.

The 10th generation Accord is outstanding hard to believe that next summer, the 11th generation Accord will be getting revealed. This Accord is the best midsize sedan and the most attractive 😍😍💯

Go check out the Chinese version it now has panoramic sunroof, bigger touch screen, full led tail lights that look stunning!!! And upgraded rear defuser. But it's only available in China. U.S will not get this. 2022 honda accord

I've had 6 Honda's and own 4 now (Pilot, Accord, 2 Civics). None of them are particularly quiet on the road.

@@checuevas93 Agreed. My wife has a 2016 Pilot (new body style) and it's much quieter than the previous version. I just don't think of "quiet" when I think of Honda vehicles. We had 2 Odyssey's and loved them but I never thought they rode particularly quiet on the road.

I have a 2020 Civic and I would say for an economy car, road noise is decently quiet. But yes, Honda's are known for not having a ton of soundproofing.

I think the road noise issue has a lot to do with the fact they are putting 19" rims on these new cars which accounts for a lot of the problem. If they went back to 17" or 16" rims it wouldn't be nearly as bad.

The wheels and tires make a difference, for sure…but Honda still has a long ways to go for road noise. Most of the vehicles I get to drive and test in the same road surfaces have huge rims and less than ideal tires and they still typically have much better road noise numbers.

@@musti143 I owned a 2005 accord elx and just bought a 2022 accord elx hybrid. I'd say the new one is quieter for sure. The 22 has 17 inch wheels and the hybrid may attribute to additional quiet ride too. I have never ridden in the touring with 19 inch wheels

Finally someone who noticed the sound system not being up to par for this level of car. Also you are correct about road noise. I have owned my 2019 Honda Accord Touring 2.0 t for two and a half years. It is my daily commuter car. I love this car but there is one of the biggest down falls of this car that no one ever mentions and only someone like myself who drives it 120 miles a day for years will notice it. THE SEATS !!!. These seats will kill you on a long trip unless you use some type of cushion such as I have.. Even though I love this car I was almost prepared to trade it if I had not found an awesome seat cushion brand king phoenix. This cushion is so good I drove from Virginia to Florida with zero problems. I can't believe Honda who I have loved for 35 years made the flagship Accord with these descrepiences. My sixth generation Accord with over 300000 was more comfortable.

Yeah the car can be a tad loud but it’s also much quieter than my 18 Elantra sport was so there’s that. The 2.0 in mine makes it such a comfortable daily with tons of passing power while still netting good mpg. In spring/summer I can see 38 on my commute to work. But the room in it can’t be touch by other cars. Honestly my only gripe with my 2.0T sport is I wish it had a pano roof 😂

That’s why I bought the lx model and spent 1500 on a sound system upgrade.definitely fit the car better than stock I’m not sure what Honda was thinking with that.

There is a secret sound setting for the radio , I’m happy with the sport 2.0 (which has the type r engine ). And the cabin noise could be the cheap tires the accord comes with.

@@ak10coachk Check out this video.. it does help. Now, before I got my new Accord Touring a couple weeks ago, I had heard that the sound system wasn't the best. Of course its all subjective, but , for me.. its fine. Im not a musician, or needing to blast my system at ear piercing levels at every stop sign, to try and show what a bad ass I am.. so, the system , for me, is great. Play my music, etc.. sounds great. Just depends what is more critical for you when getting a car. If the sound system is at or near the top of your list, then this one might not be the best. But for me, its serviceable, sounds great. You can insulate the trunk with sound deadening material to cut down on the road noise. I'm in the market for a honda accord sport 1.5T . Honda makes some great dependable vehicles with my experience .

People who say the turbo engines from honda are not reliable dont know what they are talking about or never owned one, i know someone with a 2018 2.0t accord with around 82,000 already with no problems at all no oil dilution problems nothing. it is a shame honda doesnt offer a N/A for the accord anymore unless you go hybrid but other than that i dont see why so many people complain with a turbocharged vehicle of course not all turbocharged engines are created equal. and if you had a turbocharged engine from honda that took a crap on you im sorry but you are the very few of the bunch that had problems with these engines. proud owner of a 2021 Accord Sport 2.0T in Sonic Gray Pearl :)

I believe they were talking about the 1.5L Turbocharged engines. The 2.0t’s are phenomenal. The 1.5 just sucks.

The 2.0 is optimized the 1.5 gets gasket leaks so steer clear of the 1.5

Great review man. I love the Honda Accord to death, but the bad stereo could very well be a deal breaker for me. My 2022 Hyundai Elantra has an incredible stereo, so I’ll stick with it.

I was surprised of a 2020 Elantra base model. Speakers actually sounded good. Even with the bass set at 1 and the rest at 0. I got in the 2022 Tucson and it sounds much tinier

I own 2021 Touring. (Stay away from 1.5T with CVT) This review is SPOT ON. This is my 4th Accord and 7th Honda. Road noise always an issue, try different tires and/or a smaller wheel size. Sound system is meh? Other dislikes, small fuel tank, tail light design. Additional likes, sport mode with adaptive dampers, rain sensing wipers, auto high beams, heated & ventilated front seats, heads up display, standard safety tech. I do miss a V6 option but turbo 4's don't bother me. This car will not appeal to everyone. No car does. For me though, the Accord offers a better overall package for my tastes. Be Happy Everyone!

I traded a cross tour in on a 2020 AWD Stinger GT 3.3TT--I paid 36k for the Stinger last year rt before prices skyrocketed.Most of the accords that had similiar features were 39k--plus as far as a sport sedan goes there is no contest.I was able to top speed my car this weekend with a 2021 Charger SRT on a 5 mile run and had the SRT by about 4 car lengths with the speedo bouncing off 170 MPH as the car settled to 165 MPH--Stinger is just so much better--also the stinger has been reliable and the interior is on par with my crosstours interior for quality.

Couldn’t agree more regarding the sound system. I test drove the 2.0 Turbo here in Dubai and it is ABSOLUTELY terrible. Honda cost cutting is becoming obvious in too many places! Interior lights, battery capacity etc to name a few…

I bought a 2021 Accord sport 2.0. pretty impressed with the 10AT and it's power when needed. My car always quiet on road. I sold my stock wheels and Michelin primacys and put on glint accessory wheels and continental purecontacts. Only thing is wish the stero sound system was better, also the interior bulbs are not led which don't understand when most of outside of car is LED. No glove box light and passenger seat is not powered. If you can get past that I'd say car is amazing on highway very smooth and doing 80 feels like 50 on the highway.

For the audio settings, try putting the high/mid/bass all to neutral instead of having them all turned up. There's no reason to have them all turned up, this isn't what EQ is meant for. If you want it louder, just turn up the volume.

It still sucks, no matter how you tune the system. My 2013 Nissan Altima SL had a Bose stereo that sounds light years ahead of what the 2021 Accord has. It's that terrible!

I agree, I’m shopping around and the Accord is at the top of my list. The lack of a naturally aspirated 2.0 or 2.5 is a bit of a bummer but if the turbo is reliable it’s not a huge let down. I don’t drive somewhere it gets icy so the 2WD is something I can live with. The one thing I’ve heard is replacing the factory tires with better ones, many have reported significant improvement to the road noise issue.

Glad you like it! The LX is going to be quieter than the other because if smaller wheels and more tire. But compared to many other vehicles it’s objectively louder. Glad you’re enjoying yours 👍

The 2.0T 10 speed turbo is much faster than the discontinued v6 aspirated engine. The 10 speed is one of the best in the industry. I own a K5 GT-LINE and 2021 Honda Accord 2.0t Sport. I wish Honda offered panoramic sun roof, colored seats, Bose or Harmon Karmon sound system on a 10.25" infotainment screen. Yes the road noise is noticeable (especially on the all season 19" tires). The handling is great. I prefer the steering of the Honda over my Kia!

@@matrix8043 Yes, it seems so. Honda Accord is a solid built car, no rattles. It has excellent trade-in value too. Personally, I love the looks of both cars but the K5 is sexier looking.

Although the 2.0T is still faster, I like my 2016 V6 better. It sounds better than the 4 cylinder, and those 3.5L V6 are extremely reliable too.

I had a 2019 1.5 sport manual, got tired of shifting and got a 2021 sport 2.0. One of the best cars I have owned. Yes I wish honda could have reduced road noise. Does anyone have a vid showing how to change the transmission fluid in the 10 speed? I can't find one any place.

Bro I been driving a honda accord 2010 for years and the road noise is really annoying and for the accord they should have more insulation to cancel out the road noise because the car is bigger. For the sound system its decent but I saw on the news that they are partnering with Sony so no doubt their entertainment system is going to change dramatically. Everything else is decent its a reliable car that doesn't require that much maintenance its really zippy and handles well. The Touring model should be almost a mirror of the Acura cars. The 4 wheel system is not really required you're not hauling or going off road with this car plus if it messes up its a ton of money to repair but regardless the 4 liter Turbo charged engine, the hybrid version still gets a ton of miles per gallon. That's why although its really really annoying I still drive my car and save a ton of money on gas compared to other vehicles. Love the video keep up the good work 👏 👍

Over the years, we've owned five Accords, the most recent being a 2016 EX-L V6 which we purchased new. I agree, the audio system is and always has been low quality. We solved the "road noise" issue by replacing the factory installed tires.

Have had the Touring trim about a month now, awesome vehicle. Some minor nits overall, but for me, things I dont mind. What kind of tires did you upgrade to? And, Honda Jon on here, has a channel, and is always posting videos with little hacks etc.. And he posted one about a way to improve, slightly, the sound system, I tried it, and it worked. For me, the system is fine. I cant tell any big difference in sound , or quality, etc.. Its clear, does what its supposed to etc.. Let me know, and I can provide a link to that video about adjusting the sound system

I would like to buy the 2022 Honda Touring Hybrid Accord. I've read Honda has gone down in reliability. The fact that the Civic has better sound than the Accord blows my mind. Also, what kind of tires come factory? IF they're Dunlop or something cheap, I'd replace them with Michelin, but I'm seeing that they come factory with Michelin, tho I don't know if this is accurate. Also, it'd be a shock if they came factory with Michelin because is supposed to be creme de la creme, cream of the crop, top of the line tire you can buy.

@@CenobiteBeldar I bought my Accord EX-L V6 new in 2016, it came with Michelin... they were great tires, handled and held the road well, but they did produce road noise and began to show wear and loose grip at around 20,000 miles. The Accord can also come with Continentals. It is my understanding that there will be an Accord refresh for the 2023 model year

@@nickphillips2125 It would be nice if Honda took the time to run their cars on machines like an indoor endurance dyno. Not for measuring horsepower but for measuring long-term reliability. One car from each model. So if there are two engine classes and two transmission classes for a Honda Accord there will be X amount of cars in any possible configuration and they'll be driven/monitored by a 24-hour staff on the dyno or car size treadmill whatever you want to call it because Japan isn't a big country and they'll run the cars till the engines seize and at the same time they'll maintain them per the mileage they accrue obviously. I think this would test their engineering and help them calibrate where they want to be vs where they aren't and it'll help drive down their recalls. In the same way, Apple should perform quality control on their software with all these bricked products and bugs they get.

If you don't want road noise, pay $20-25k++ for Lexus or Audi etc and you good to go. It is all about what they "promised" to you when selling you this car for certain price..in that case I think they underpromised and overdelivered. At the end of the day that's an Accord..not an S-Class. Not sure how much more quiet are the Altima or the Camry. You can always buy speakers. but you won't be able the gap the competition.

I had an 18 2.0t. Sold it because of the little rattles, loud road noise, and unrefined 10sp auto. I also couldn’t believe it passed inspection for body panel gaps. The hood on the early models was hilariously bad.

I have the 2021 touring in modern steel Metallic and i can say as an audiophile if you know what you are doing the sound system is great. The road noise is garbage I agree. Im getting sound insulation from Amazon though.

The accord probably didnt have a problem you just didn't like the way it drove. The 19 civic is much worse vehicle especially if you have the 1.5 liter engine. It has an oil dilution problem leaks oil

Road noise on the touring is due to its tires/wheel combo. Big wheels and performance tires. My 21 Accord Hybrid Ex-l is very quiet, my 17 inch wheels and bulky tires make things smooth. But I dont get that nice look either.

I have a 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid EX-L. The only complaint I have is that there is no alert to tell you when you shut down the car and have left your phone in the wireless charger. Other than that very minor complaint, we're very happy.

the alert is when you walk away if it beeps rapidly it means you walked away too fast for the auto-lock feature to work, or the key has left the vehicle and it is still on notifying you.

I think the whole road noise thing is very subjective. Some reviewers have praised how quiet the cabin is, while you think it’s noisy. Very interesting.

It’s subjective if people only go off their impressions. I make it as objective as possible recording multiple decibel ratings for every vehicle I test on the exact same road surfaces, in the exact same spots, same speed, little to no wind, always stock tires. When you’re on a smooth road at lower speeds, yes it’s quiet. But once you’re up to speed or on any road with less than perfect surface, it lets in more road noise than competitors

Honda’s have always have loud road noise .. I think tires play a big roll. I changed my tires on my ‘08 Accor coupe and it was a big change. However the audio system is a shocker I have a base coupe and I find the audio punches above its weight maybe they cut cost by adding a generic stereo system in this gen

I believe it has to do with the active noise cancellation. My ninth gen Accord had this and it basically killed all the base and any behavior by canceling out what it perceived to be noises. The end result is it rode very quietly, but the radio sucked. But Honda's trying to be up market and claim that people want to quiet ride, but they're doing it by canceling out any personality the radio has. In the developer menus it is possible to turn off the active noise cancellation, and make the digital signal processor flat, which does improve the sound quality. But one should not have to go into the developer menus to actually make the radio and sound system sound good.

I have a 2017 accord ex-l and the infotainment screen/apple car play is awful. The screen freezes , disconnects , lowers the volume on it its own, when you try to turn it up the volume button is stuck, the screen gets stuck for no reason. Anyone have this problem?

Road noise, get different tires. Pretty sure the tires are on the hard side for least rolling resistance. There are some streets I have to drive on which are noisy AF. I hear ya. I'm not bothered enough to want to buy another set of tires for this car. Audio wise, Bose does what Bose does and if just about everything I've experienced with Bose products I own, and have heard elsewhere are any indication, then sure, I can see you preferring that kind of sound. To say that the sound system in the Accord is bad makes me wonder what you are comparing it to, the kind of environments you listen to music in, and what your actual tastes are. Wireless audio does not sound the best in the Accord Touring Hybrid I own. Flac files (even 24bit >48khz are supported) from a usb stick is the way to go. The DAC in the system does a great job and doesn't sound edgy or lean. Power seems sufficient for moderate to reasonably loud listening. There should have been an option for better parts not more speakers, so same speaker count but speakers with heftier motor assemblies, and better amplification, say another $1000 or so. The issue I have with the Accord audio is some funky resonances which are most definitely cabin resonances. At reasonable listening levels the detail retrieval and overall smoothness is pretty impressive as well as the full range response, save for the odd peaks I mentioned at some very specific frequencies (which go away with the windows down). The peaks I mentioned don't occur with everything, there are certain tracks where I can notice this. If the logic is that car audio needs to thump unrealistically and sound like a dance club, then no, that's not the presentation you're going to get. Honda went for a more neutral presentation, possibly a tad mid forward in my opinion.

Totally agreed. Drove my 21 Accord Touring this morning and the sound system isn't that good even with the subwoofers turned up high. My Lexus Mark Levinson on ES350 are 10 times better. I'm sure they are going to fix all these "problems" on the re-designed Accord. It's a good everyday car.

Do you have any of these cars to give an honest opinion? I had an SL550 that cost over $100k and the Bang and Olufsen was not good. That was a $6,500 option.

@Sinbat Siraseranant audio systems for cars have jumped ahead so much that unfortunately B&O is just average nowadays. You have a lot of manufacturers installing harman kardon and Bose systems in their cars from factory. Which takes away from the premium feeling of getting something like B&O. They spent the last few years getting by on their premium branding. Hopefully they step it up soon
