Ajahn Nyanadhammo gives a Dhamma talk on what life was like living with Ajahn Chah. He tells many great stories of Ajahn Chah, and conveys how skillful a teacher he really was, always leading by example.
The talk was given at the Ajahn Chah Remembrance Day on 16 January 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The set of DVD's (Refuge in the Triple Gem), from which this talk was taken, has been sponsored for free distribution by generous supporters in Malaysia, with gratitude and respect for the Forest Sangha. If you wish to help such productions to continue to be made freely available, please contact sianmah@gmail.com.

I'm listening to the monks who underwent training with Ajahn Chah, slowly my thinking and way of life is becoming more of a buddhist rather that christian. They were more applicable in todays life. I never seen such humility and discipline. What I observed is that when you listen - you talk less, sleep less and eat less, I became very simple in living and learn to accept the things as they are. Thank you so much.

I was devoutly Christian until my mid 30's when I fully realized that I knew the bible inside and out and was outwardly a fine man but I was a disaster inside. At age 49 I attended a Buddhist retreat knowing zero about the Buddha, what he accomplished or what he taught. 10 Years of daily practice later I am a completely different person, transformed from the inside out thanks to following the compassionate teachings of the Buddha. I'm far, far from perfect, but the teachings of the Buddha are nothing short of stainless and brilliant. I have great compassion for Christians. Thank you for listening to this talk.

compassion toward parents as your brothers and sisters as we are raised by the world is a good thing in the eyes of, life is precious, wonderful and mysterious, it's a wonderful thing to be born in human form especially in unconditional love and compassion a person can evolve into thru the practice of simple meditation and mindfulness of speech, emotion, the heart and the breath. it's easy to judge one's parents, we have all experienced this judgement but let us not judge the judgement.

You can not hold your left shoulder. You can not hold your right shoulder. Then you can not hold your shoulders. Could you please tell me why are they doing these scenarios in regression? I really do not know... such stuff. I dont think I want to know this.

Not screaming, but he was quite strict. The first 5 years under a teacher like him, is sometimes like hell. But if you follow his teachings and rules, you will be forever grateful.

You do not know my whole story and you should not, but it is really only about rape and cutting legs and hands off.I need my rest, do not come, you are destroying the work of others. Do not bother me, I need my rest. I am already peeing in my bed because it is too painful, it is already too painful to walk, to walk to the toilet. Its just, you do not know what I did to myself to die, and it did not work out, I am still alive.

That story about carrying parents on shoulders is clearly a contamination and has nothing to do with original teachings of Buddha.
