That was my dad's favorite Benz as well, we called it the V-boot. W124's are a great example of Mercedes mastery at building timeless vehicles.

That part where Raz says "you'll be unimpressed with everything else" actually hits home..

This just completely made my day & beyond. I truly pray Mercedes classics NEVER changes their policy on supporting their finest era(s) of cars. I hope Ruby stays on the road for as long as there are roads.

I have 2 W124s, a 1991 250 Turbodiesel and a 1992 500 E V8. And they will never leave my house, because of all the reasons explained on the video. They are incredible well built machines, confortable and very amusing to drive. Also they are reliable and easy to work on. I don't daily drive them and they don't get driven in the rain too, they are garage queens. I also have a 1996 S 600 V12, a very low mileage one and also a garage queen. The V12 was my dream car, so that one will never leave my house also ❤️

My dad has a 1992 W124 250D, still to this day I'm amazed at how solid the interior is and how well it rides compared to modern equivalent cars. Its done over 200,000 miles and still hasn't missed a beat!

Just starting to watch these episodes and just love them, I have been a Mercedes fan well over 40 years and owned over 18 different models at different times and I can tell you there is some magic about these vehicles that once you own one, you never want to own a different car, they are absolutely unique on every sense of the word.

I love Ruby. I had a 1984 E320 in a Forest Green with a caramel color leather interior. I have owned so many ‘Mercedes’ many of which were the S Class. The E320 was my favorite and I have always regretted selling it. The style is so unique and it drove so well.

They are truly special. I’ve daily driven a 280 w124 wagon for 5 years, everyday. It does everything from the school run to lugging my surfboard to the spot every week, all with effortless grace.

14:57 yupp, back in the days you had to pay extra for a central armrest. I am from Finland and the cars over here were really weird optioned, usually really basic or then with a big motor and basic interior or vice versa. But this W124 has the 300D and automatic, sunroof and power windows, it is a car that would have been unheard of in Finland :D I love the W124, it is such a timeless car and these are soo well built and will last forever.

Nothing like a pristine, time-capsule W124 :) 1993 280E 199 w' black interior, factory air, cruise etc in our "1" car garage. All original with the exception of a modern alarm & upgraded audio (Blaupunkt/Rainbow nothing chintzy). Started life in Japan, imported to UK, now lives in DE -- gets the "H" plate in a few months. 67k km when it came into our possession, now at 114k km. Best car I've ever owned - the build quality is incredible! Super reliable if properly maintained, easy to work on & quite reasonable on fuel tbh. Best thing about owning it.........every drive is an event, it's just such an amazing space to be in, the tactility of the interior, the way it handles, the soundtrack when you put your foot down etc etc. Only downside.....people always want to talk about it - esp' being RHD. Will also never be sold & any amount of money to keep it driving in new car condition will be spent without a 2nd thought. Looking forward to a lot of EU road trips this Summer now that Covid is finally out of the way!

Lovely car and great back story. The W201 / 190E on my channel is 33 years old and the build quality shines through and the parts availability from my local dealer is incredibly good for a car of this age!

I also run a w124 300d wagon as my daily and over the years have had numerous 80's and 90's classics and can honestly say that the w124's are the pinnacle of 90's motoring in my opinion! unbelievable cars , also own a 190e and a e30 touring and numerous other garden ornaments 180k on the w124 so far and just run in!

My first car after I got my licence was W124 200E sportline, so many years after I truly regret for selling that car. Hopefully I'll buy 124 again, the best Merc ever PERIOD. Lovely car, respect to the owner!

Wow. I could take your place and have the same story. My father, with my help, bought an Almandine red 300CE-24 in 95 and it has stayed in the family ever since. It draws comments all the time, even thumbs up on the motorway from complete strangers. It is maturing like a vintage wine. Built by engineers and not accountants.

I daily a 1975 Mercedes 300d. People think i do nothing but maintain the car while its not driving. Truth is, i dont do sh*t hahaha om617 has no problem keeping up with traffic. Awesome to see other people wio are my fellow Mercedes enthusiasts driving their beasts.

Buying a W211 Facelift 320cdi as my 1st car, The Best or nothing! The W204 Facelift C63 is a monster, best 6.2L V8 in the world, favorite engine of all time. Love you Mercedes :D

W124s my favourite Mercedes generation. Proper Mercs.

My 1987 has 734000 km and still has the original rear rotors. Only big problem was the defective cylinder head; a well known problem which was changed at 420000 km. Owned for 31 years. I've put it back into business use as VW no longer has diesels.

Wish I had my late father's '59 220S Ponton it had a 45 record player!...I now daily '95 W124 E280 limited edition "Masterpiece" on 145K straight six.good vid thanks

I have two w124 300D’s that I daily drive. I’ll never sell them. Also a w123 280e project

I also drive a 124 300D 1988 as a daily and a 201 190D 1991 when it’s snowing here in Black Forest Germany. I don’t even have a “modern” car and DON’T WANT one since 16 years. I owned once a just 1 year old Audi in 2007 and just had issues over and over. After quite an amount of money and several times their dealer shop. I was so fed up that I sold it after 2 years. And bought again a 201 190E. With an old Mercedes you always reach the destination, they never let me down which the Audi did… I service my cars myself or I get help from my friends from 123 club of Germany. I’m looking forward to spring again because then I can take out my 123 300 TD Turbo 1984 or my 126 350 SDL 1990. Those two I bought last year and restored them myself. - new paint and full service etc. The funny thing is, they are all Arktis weiß/ Arctic white code 147. It wasn’t on purpose - it just happened. When you look for a specific car models you can’t really choose the color, you take it because condition is ok and it has the specs you wanted. I was just looking for a 123 T Modell with 300 turbo and ABS and sunroof. I was searching since years. Then I found it in France and brought it back home to south Germany where it was “born”. The 126 was also available and I was looking also several years. When you get the opportunity then you can’t hesitate, you need to get it. So it’s now funny that they are all in the same arctic white. Last evening I was waiting at a red light in the 190D. There was a little boy of around 10 with his bike waiting to cross the crosswalk when he got green he passed me and gave me his biggest smile and a thumb up so I gave him also a thumb up and waved him. That was sooo sweet from him! This only happens in an old Mercedes 🥰

as a w124 230e owner, i advise you to get a inline 6 or v8. they do need some time, love and dedication tho

What a brilliant series. I live in Milton Keynes and daily drive a 1995 C124 e320 which has been tastefully upgraded with AMG 18" alloys and upgraded bluetooth stereo. I could never drive a modern car again because they have no class, presence, build quality or personality.

The problem with current Mercedes cars are not reliable and too costly to maintain.

Lovely car. Really inspiring. My extended family have owned Mercedes for generations and my parents had both a W114 and a 190e. I was proud of both those cars and now and I long to return. I’m a fan of course. Question is do I buy a C43 or do buy a classic 190e with low mileage and keep my performance vehicle from another brand🤷‍♂️ first world problems. Both would be ideal.

If you want to see like more classics and stuff, i think its better to go to 2nd world countries' rural areas. W123/124 200D or 250D are the kings of rural Balkans. Not to mention Kurzhauber's in daily use, Pontons etc. They might not be in show room conditions but they are a true meaning of daily driving
