I have had diabetes for 16 years and I've had many highs and lows also. Last August I had my first baby, a daughter. I proved to my self I can take top care of myself but it is hard and honestly after 8 months of every waking decision being about diabetes to have a healthy baby it burned me out so bad! I'm having the hardest time getting into gear again. I never thought I would have a healthy baby, and I did. I've traveled to far away places and I've changed careers, got married... diabetes was just a long for the ride the whole time.

I just found your channel and I appreciate any insight I can get. Thank you for sharing…I was 69 when I was diagnosed with LADA (T1D) and I am so thankful that I embraced technology. I ran the gamut in just over a year. From T2 with oral medicine, to a single Basel injection daily, then a CGM and Basel injection with Bolas injections before meals, and finally a MiniMed 780G. I am so thankful for the timing of all of this!

I've been type 1 since 1992. It's a 24 hour a day 7 days a week job if you want to stay healthy. But he's right you can still do most anything you want to. Sometimes it does get me down but you have to keep working with and never give up. You're doing manually what the good Lord above designed your pancreas to do automatically but it can be done.

I was diagnosed as a T2D, then LADA, and finally a T1D in a span of six months (about 3 years ago) and my diagnoses completely destroyed my life. I found your channel on a Reddit post last night and I'm seriously glad I did, man. Thank you for taking the time out to educate and prove there's more to this disease than numbers and insulin and the stigma surrounding manageable glucose numbers. I can honestly say I look forward to your future videos and wish you the beat in life.

I have been a T1D since 18 years of age in 1966. 53 plus years. Doing fairly well/ok diabetes wise. i used to hike mountains in the Pacific Northwest and loved the feeling of freedom that I got being out west. I am a flatlander from Illinois. T1D NEVER slowed me down but other autoimmune diseases did, rheumatoid arthritis sure did. Been on an insulin pump for over 25 years now, Medtronic. Just found your channel and I really like the accurate information you are providing others with T1D. Keep up the good work providing information about T1D.

I've been a type 1 diabetic for 33 years, I was diagnosed while I was in the Navy and in the Gulf in 92. My reading was 980 when I went to the ships doctor. It took me three weeks to get home, but I'm thankful for all of the hospitals, nurses and doctors that took care of me on my way. All these years later I'm still amazed to be alive and am able to do as much as I've done. It's work to get through every single day, and some are harder than others. But I appreciate this being on here, it can truly be a lifesaver for anyone going through this.

Thank you for starting this channel. My son was diagnosed at the age of 18, not long after graduating from high school. The injections never seemed to control his BS very well. Once he got a insulin pump it made a big difference in regulating his BS. He just got his second pump, since his diagnosis, and this time he got the CGM. In 2020, my son will have to have his on medical insurance. I have made him promise me that he will never go without his insulin or ration it. Thanks again for taking the time to do this. I look forward to your other videos. Jill

I'm here from seeing your IG posts. To be honest I was physically tense throughout most of this video. I have been T1D for 24 years and tend to find that most T1D themed social media is either commodified inspiration porn, or comments from non-T1Ds who have no idea what it is like - so it's like I instantly go into defence mode. I definitely relaxed more having finished the video and I have also watched your "if your blood sugar could talk" videos which made me laugh! Have you got any more videos planned? It's very refreshing to find relatable content, I'm so tired of the judgement and complications that come with T1D, and the literal constant battle just to stay alive - it affects everything. Wouldn't it be great just to have one day off.

I was diagnosed at the age of 40 (yes, 40!). It runs in my family and when I went back to school to be a nurse I had to get a ton of immunizations that triggered my immune system. I guess I really miss being "normal". I also hate how nobody knows the difference between type 1 and type 2 and/or how much it really impacts daily life. I'm an ER nurse now and love when I get type 1 patients. They love me too because they feel there's someone that actually understands their struggle. Not just a doc telling them to "do better".

@Sarah Garrett The technology using CGM and pumps is a game changer all for the better. I started using a pump in 2003 and I can count on one hand (actually 4 times) I have had pump problems. Fortunately none were a complete failure just a "This is your pump talking and I'm not feeling quite right". It still was working. Called help desk and had another pump the next day in all cases. Pump and CGM make life a whole easier and less stressful.

Saw you on Facebook. This is SO ME! I was diagnosed at 50, of course at first the doc thought I was a type ll, but after a year it was obvious I needed insulin.. Then I felt normal, after 10 years of no energy, feeling below normal all the time. The latest research shows that 30% of adult type ll are actually delayed onset type l.. It is so hard to always check sugar levels, to try to figure out why the high won't come down, or the low won't come up. You totally understand, and help me laugh about it. Thank you!

The comparison with the car is very apt. Our body is created by nature and consists of material elements that transform back into earth at the end of life. However, we are different from material elements. The ego, the consciousness, the life force, we are made of another higher eternal energy. When the body dies we live on and start a new chapter of life somewhere else. However, it is very strange that young people get diabetes. People always talked about old age sugar, old people who can't digest well and eat too much get diabetes. In young people or children, this looks more like external influence. Similar to the Contergan scandal.

I will certainly make this a priority. The subtitles do a poor job when left to their on interpretations so I need to partner up with someone fluent in Italian to make sure everything is accurate. I will get to work on this!

Alice, hang in there and keep reaching out. Of all years to be diagnosed this had to be a tough one indeed. So many feel isolated in general, but to be so and trying to get a handle on your new normal while living through such a chaotic year is even more of a challenge. Know you are not alone and keep up with Levy and find others if you feel a need to broaden your support system. I keep it to a few only to learn from different stories as we all have so much to share. Be kind and gentle with yourself and know that every day can be different until you find a path which works best for you and your body!! Hang in there, as Levy has shown already with his channel, you can do this!! May you find the support you need much sooner than later. Hopefully by now you ARE already feeling much better!! Kudos to Levy for being so well grounded with telling his story!!

I’ve had type ones diabetes since I was seven and I’m now 16 and trust me it does get easier and you will be able to work through it. There’s gonna be a ton of ups and downs and you’re gonna feel amazing at some moment and then completely offload others but you gotta keep your head on the goal. You gotta keep your head up. You gotta be able to face these things and say OK I have this and I can work through it. Yes, it’s gonna be hard at sometimes but it’s so worth it, having diabetes, you’re gonna be able to keep your head up and you’re gonna realize life is still just as valuable with it

There really is no normal for you at the moment. Could be a ton of reasons why you have no appetite. No worries! Once you start to acclimate you will more than likely give insulin as needed for food, not food as needed for insulin. Good luck. You got this!
