Used to open Tins. I do understand now a days the ration comes in food packets. But the extra food that chief cook would get during abondoning the ship, may have tins and cans for which a tin opener would be handy to open them easily

explain this- the engine shall be capable of operating for "Not less than 5min"after starting from cold with the lifeboat out of the water?

Vikas Gupta It means that in Cold weather as well as from the idel state when we start an engine it should be capable to work for 5min .

Yes , You can check the same under LSA code(Chapter 4 -Survival Craft-4.4.2carrying Capacity of Life boats, point 4.4.2.1) "No Lifeboat shall be approved to accommodate more than 150 persons."

Nihal Gupta in lifeboat equipments the painter length should b not less than twice the stow ht or 15m whichever is greater....This is what m talking about ..lsa code chp 4 4.4.8

Vikas Upadhyay Bro you are right i stand corrected. For lifeboat painter length is twice the distance from the stowed position or 15 m which ever is greater. And for liferaft painter lengtg requirement is 10m + the distance stowed at or 15 m whichever is greater. Kindly cross check pls
